Motorola Q4 financial report is out: Things are getting better
    Jan 31, 2010 - 11:08 AM - by Imaz77ar
Motorola published their Q4 and full 2009 financial reports, which shows quite clear signs that the company is getting back on its feet. They have earned 142 million US dollars in Q4, which has brought down the total loss for the year 2009 to only 51 million dollars. Now compare those to the 3.7 billion dollars that Motorola lost in Q4 2008 and 4.2 billion loss for the whole 2008 and you see our point.

Unfortunately the mobile division is still struggling to make some profit. Motorola shipped 12 million handsets in Q4, 2 million of which were smartphones and generated 1.8 billion US dollars of income. That did help it reduce the operating loss to 132 million dollars (compared to 595 million in Q4 2008) but they still need to improve their results to actually start earning some money. We guess a few more devices of the MILESTONE kind should do the trick just fine.

For the full year 2009, sales of the mobile division were 7.1 billion US dollars, compared to... [Read More]

    Is this the Motorola MOTOSPLIT?
    Jan 25, 2010 - 3:37 AM - by SuperJoker

Okay, we're not anywhere close to 100 percent on this, but we just got a blurry screenshot of something we're told is the Motorola MOTOSPLIT, a Snapdragon-powered Android set in the vein of the Droid with a totally wild split-horizontal sliding QWERTY keyboard. Yeah, we want one -- it reminds us of the beloved Nokia 6820, although it's much thinner. We're told this thing is coming to AT&T in Q3, which makes sense; we've only pinned down three of Ma Bell's five planned Android devices, and this would be a nice higher-end compliment to the Backflip.

Motorola Motoroi coming to USA in March
    Jan 19, 2010 - 9:37 AM - by SuperJoker

Well, isn't this a novelty? The well practiced skill of lusting after Korean gear from afar won't be necessary with Motorola's latest Android 2.0 handset, as we're hearing the Motoroi is headed to US shelves this March. Moto Korea head honcho Rick Wolochatiuk was on hand at the Korean launch to confirm that the new handset "will be launched in other markets around the world," with the US specifically confirmed for a March release. The Motoroi, if you recall, is a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen spliced atop hardware good enough to record 720p video and output it via HDMI. An 8 megapixel camera with Xenon flash should ensure you get pretty decent photos too. But what are we doing telling you about it when there are perfectly good promo videos? Go get 'em!

    Jan 18, 2010 - 9:06 PM - by Av3LaR

Android hasn’t exactly been the hottest thing around these years – that is, until now. According to statistics from a ChangeWave research report, usage and overall consumer outlook towards Google’s mobile operating system has soared over the last few months. As of December 2009, the research firm’s survey shows that 4% of all smartphone owners now use Google’s Android OS. That’s an increase of 200% since the previous survey released in September.

ChangeWave’s December 9-14 survey of over 4,000 consumers reveals the Android operating system churning up the smartphone market, with Motorola’s new Droid the
