hello, i have a slvr l7c i recently purchased from a new local phone company. the company provides you service over a certain calling area...if that is of any use to any of you...

i added a microsd card and the phone can play mp3s very well. however, my problem is i cannot make the mp3s i saved on the phone act as ringtones. i dont have the option to switch storage device once i access my ring styles menu.

is there anything i can do to make mp3s i input to my sd work as ringtones? if not, is there any other way i can personally add ring tones to my phone?

thanks in advance.....

a L7c is a CDMA phone. so it was moved to the CDMA section.

From what I know, only songs that are transfered to the phone's memory can be used as ringtones, the memory cards are for music/video/pictures only. If you want to use any song as a ringtone you have to use a program to send it to your phone's memory which should be about 35MB, thats what mine is (L7c).

Easy way ($ required):You can use Motorola Phone Tools to transfer music/video/pictures. It does cost money.

Hard way(FREEBIE): download drivers, install drivers, and use p2k programs, preferably P2kcommander which works with the L7c

i was able to transfer my mp3's from my sd card to the phone pretty easily.. first off on ur phone u should go to sounds or audio menu. where all the sounds are at. when ur there press on options and choose "switch storage device" to ur card. all or most of the songs on ur card should be there. then scroll down to the song you want as a ringtone.....select options.....go down to copy.....select phone....next it should copy to ur phones memory. switch back to ur phones memory and from there u should be ables to set ur song as a ringtone!!! any ???'s feel free to ask =)

here you go, fool-proof way to do this stuff :)

TO SEND MP3s to your phone to use as ringtones:

1. follow guides as to how to connect phone to pc (get drivers installed)
2. once installed, find yourself and nice and legit copy of Motorola RSD Lite 3.2 (get THIS version!!!!)
3. run RSD Lite, let it install its drivers now, then it will show your phone in the window as: MOTOROLA K1m/L7c
4. if it is working correctly and this all happens, download and run P2kCommander (NOT TOOLS!)
5. in right side of screen, drop down to a: p2k phone and then hit Re-Read
6. it will show now a:.... so select that, then select system, then shared, and then ringtones (a\motorola\shared\ringtones) and place your 30 second MP3s (NOT VBR, only CBR) in there.
7. go back to a\system\ and delete the file called: MyToneDB.db
8. power cycle phone and BAM ... new ringtones
