Anyone know the correct number for the banner in a V3re? Would P2k Tools be the best software to accomplish a seem edit?
:peace:
Ok, this is what I've learned thus far using P2K Commander: The seem for the AT&T banner is 0032, Record =0001, Offset=4B, Bit=6
I don't understand how to manipulate the bits in order to change the banner text. Or is necessary to modify two seems?

naw naw, hit the search button and use the standard 3 step seem edit, (in seem 0032_0001 there are 3 things u have to change, but i cant name them off the top of my head)
then use M-Explorer, and look in google for the "v3re m-explorer patch" register on that forum to dl the patch, rename the ending to rar if it isn't already, folow the patch directions, and after that you will be able to read the root files in the A:/ directory to access the palm text file or w/e its called.
search button. it is your friend.
oh ya, and dont forget to make backups.

I used the "discover function" within P2k Commander to get that far. Can you assist in explaining what I should search? I'm a complete NOOB!!!
I am afraid I still don't get it. I have M-Explorer with the V3re patch installed but do not understand what to do.

haha, its cool, but first of all, use P2KTools version 3.w/e (its in our dl section) to get seems
also, when p2ktools doesnt read the files on the V3re dont sweat it, its just like that. but the seem editing works just fine.
BUT
DO NOT do ur editing IN p2ktools.
you *can* if u really wanted to, but dont lol. just export it to file (theres a button that sais load from file and the its right is a blank button, that "blank" button is the save seem to file button lol)
then with ur seem file (dont rename it btw) open up XVI32 and do the editing there.
to find an offset hit "Ctrl-g" then find it
and bit manipulation if it sais stuff like "modify bit 5" or something like that in the guide ur reading.
if it sais "modify bit 5 to be 0" then uncheck the checkmarkbox thing.
(a 0 means unchecked, and 1 means checked)
cheers. and btw i got my phone last thursday, and i found these forums on friday, so i feel pretty happy lol.
good luck.

I wanted to change the "AT&T" on the "home" screen to say something like "Ron's Razr V3re" or something. I THINK I understand how to manipulate the bits but I want to change the text. I still don't understand how to change the text. Sorry. :(

one word: OPedit.
get the plm text table file off ur root directory, then edit ALL AT&T things with OPedit and put it back on ur phone then that should do the trick.

Cool. I had a feeling it was something like that :)
Well, I tried Opedit and I modified every text string that read "AT&T" and still my V3re still reads "AT&T" above the date on the home screen. Did I do something wrong?

hmm, i remember that happening once to me...
but the only thing i remember doing is:
dowloading the plm txt table file off the cell, and opening to check if it was overwritten by the phone. if it wasnt overwritten, then that means it has something to do with the seems.
if the AT&T carriers ARE changed, then double check the seems.
and make sure you are doing all 3 seem edits:
Offset 4B, bit 6 set to 0
Offset 02, bit 1 set to 0
Offset 40, bit 4 set to 0

Here is what I did: I copied the plmn_text_table.bin file to my PC, I used OPedit to check if it overwritten my edits; it had not, so I loaded the plmn_text_table.bin into XVI32 and checked all the offsets you mentioned-4B, 02, and 40 and found I only had to turn off bit 6 in 4B, the rest were as you specified.
I saved the file and copied it back to my phone. I restarted it and I still had the AT&T banner. I must be doing something wrong.
Sorry, I discovered what I did wrong: I edited the wrong file! LOL. I went back and edited the seem file 0032_0001.seem and followed your instructions and loaded the seem file back into my phone and it works!
Thanks!!! :)

I do want to add a quick note:
I think something about turning off the selected offsets affected my voicemail. After I modified the seem and the plmn_text_bin file, the icon for my voicemail would not disappear after listening to a new voicemail or deleting said message. And I had to enter my voicemail number. I returned everything to the default setting and everything works as before.
So, just a word of caution if you modify the banner. Nothing else seemed to have been affected.

The same thing happened to me, and I haven't figured out how to undo that just yet, not that it matters because having something besides AT&T trumps having a voicemail icon up all the time, besides, who leaves voicemails these days anyway.

I had the same problem, pays to have backups, hope somebody figures this one out.

For you AT&T (and you Cingular users that are the new AT&T). Those seems you edited work perfectly fine. The reason why you get that voicemail indicator is because of the conflict of the operator table in the sim card vs. the phone. At least thats what I heard. Here is a quote from another website:
"This modification works on Cingular phones with an occasional quirk. Every time you call voice mail to retrieve a message you get a new, empty text message from the system. Additionally, you will see an icon on your main screen at all times indicating that you have a voice mail message. After a couple weeks this issue went away on my phone. I have no idea why. For you T-Mobile users out there, you are lucky, this modification works flawlessly."
So with that said the change DOESN'T affect the T-Mobile voicemail system. I can confirm that because I have done this mod with my tmobile moto. But you ATT/Cingular users, as the quote above stated, it went away after a few weeks. And yes, when you load the modded plmn table it erases your voicemail number, so before you do this, it would be a good idea to copy it down. Doesn't matter what moto you have, it will erase it.
