Dude, as Cash said, there's a lot of stuff that needs to be added. I've been working on this for hours today trying to port different DRM's and driving myself nuts because I didn't realise that there are a lot more gifs that need to be ported than just the ones mentioned here. But, I finally put 2+2 together when I read back through the threads and found Cash saying that he needed to add a bunch of things to it.........thank goodness I found his post because I was losing my mind trying to work out exactly which gifs to port!!

But, boy I'm glad that this whole process is well underway. How do you guys know exactly which gifs to port? Just experience in looking through the icons and knowing which ones need porting?

just go through and port every single one :) lol...tehe

poetic_folly

Yup. Although you don't have to port every single .gif in there, the ones I put up are the most common ones people port. Any other you'd like to map, put the values up here in the same format I did, and I'll add them to the guide!

Guys, I've found that if I change no.'s 0018 and/or 1600 then weird things happen with other icons. For example, if I change 1600 then no status bar icons appear. If I change 0018, then world clock is missing from my Tools menu. However, if I leave those 2 icons in peace then everything else works fine.

I've tested this a dozen times this morning, but admittedly with one DRM only. However, this would explain exactly the same thing that's been happening to me over the past couple of days with other DRM's I've been working on and it was driving me crazy because I couldn't see any reason for these particular failures that I was experiencing.

Can anyone confirm/deny this "problem" with icons 0018 and 1600?

i'll take a look when I get home while I am fixing that vimm iphon drm

Maddcow

Oh, and I should also add that changing 1600 doesn't change the HelloMoto bootscreen. Perhaps it's 0008 instead? I'll try that later.

Cash, the world clock icons are 2596, 2597 and 2598 but I've already fixed my version of the iPhone DRM by vimm.

Finally, what the heck are all those other icons for, esp. in the 1000-high 2000 range? I've never seen 3/4 of them, and can't see why most of them are even there.

Madcow, there are two boot images, one is a stationary image, and one is an animation. There is also a shutdown image, which 1600 may be instead of boot up. My original map is not meant to map EVERY item in the DRM, as 99.99999% of the DRM's you see out there are simply changing the battery/data/signal icons, etc.

A lot of the images are never used in a flex, they are there perhaps for other carriers, etc, and Motorola just leaves them all in. Others are used very rarely.

PF, you should add 0389 (20x20). I'm not sure what you call it but it's definitely part of the inside screen status bar.

Also, 3233, 3237 or 0612 (all 14x15) are the equivalent icon on the outside screen but I haven't had a chance to narrow it down to the right one.

Hmm. I haven't seen that one on my phone yet. What does it do?

Maddcow
03-09-2007, 04:21 PM
I'm not sure, but it's part of the status bar. I checked a couple of other DRM's and sure enough, it's the little icon that's immediately to the right of the signal quality icon. Something to do with connectivity....I'm not sure what it's called

Alright. I give up. I've been trying to successfully port DRM's for the past 3 days and no matter what I do, I just can't get it right. I have no flamin' idea what I'm doing wrong. I follow the guide and the thread advice to the letter every single time, but I end up with any of the following results:

1) There are no status bar icons at all
2) I get some status bar icons but not all
3) Usually with item 1 or 2, I end up with multimedia menu's that cannot access content (same as Cash experienced)
4) I get some status bar icons but world clock and some other submenu icons are missing

I've tried a whole range of porting to and porting from DRM's and have tried to logically track down the problem......but the results are so inconsistent I'm absolutely stumped. I'm very thorough when problem-solving so I can't accept that I keep making mistakes in the procedures.......and yet SOMETHING is definitely not working for me.

Any ideas, oh Legend DRM-porters?

Which icons are you replacing? Are you making sure all the icons are the same size (dimensions, not file size)?

Maddcow
03-10-2007, 12:58 AM
I'm only replacing the icons in the DRM map, and all dimensions are definitely correct

poetic_folly
03-10-2007, 01:32 AM
Are you replacing every one? Try replacing only the battery and signal icons at first, then start doing the icons one at a time to figure out which one is giving you issues.

Maddcow
03-10-2007, 01:48 AM
Yeah, I think I'll have to do that. It's going to be a time-consuming pain in the ass so I'm putting it off till tomorrow.......:(

cash7c3
03-10-2007, 01:52 AM
split a drm you know works fine. then everything shouldnt be a problem. if you are using it from the cg15 you pulled from your phone you will probably experience problems

Maddcow
03-10-2007, 02:03 AM
I'm using your most recent iPhonE DRM file........at the moment. But I've also tried others too. WTF!!!!

Guys, I can successfully flash 27 new icons (see list below) but nothing more at this stage. I'm wondering if it's got something to do with the program I'm using to resize the gifs (Easy Gif Animator 3.02) because this is ridiculous. Can I ask what apps you guys use to resize both static and animated gifs? Easy Gif Animator will resize all frames of an animated gif at once, which is why I decided to use it in the first place, so hopefully your apps will do the same! I really don't want to have to resize each frame individually.......

I also have Adobe Photoshop CS2, ULead Gif Animator 5.03 and Jasc PaintShop Pro 9 but as far as I'm aware, you can't resize all animated frames in one action with these apps?

poetic_folly
03-10-2007, 11:22 PM
Hmm. So is the issue only occurring when you are replacing animated .gifs? It could be that...

Maddcow
03-11-2007, 03:50 AM
So what apps do you guys use to convert the animated gifs?

JedixJarf
