View Full Version : Carrier button remapping

My Razr Maxx V6 like all Telstra models of this phone has a browser button below the arrows on the keypad. Many a time have I accidentally pressed this button and been charged for the subsequent data usage that occurs for the second in between the time I press it and the time I realise that I've pressed it.
I have downloaded RadioComm v11.0.3 and noticed it has something on keypads. Also, in the Successful Mods Thread on this forum, JedixJarf has found a way to remap the video call key to take screenshots, so I thought perhaps the same could be done for the carrier button.
What I wanted to possibly do is either disable this button completely, or at least get it to show a warning dialog before it connects to EDGE/GPRS and starts charging me for data usage.
Is this possible ?
^ Check MaddCow's posts on this topic. I believe he's been pursuing a fix for this for about the last 3-4 weeks. Seems like I recall a post somewhere in the last few days (on this forum or another) that a fix was either imminent or already available.

I know that there's a seem edit to bring up a warning before you connect but I haven't tried it myself.
Extension warning "Demanded Costs added to you" (Babelfish translation of the original Italian - don't know what it'll actually say in English) in case of connection with the Browser
Seem: 0032_0001
Offset: 0F
Bit: 0
Value: 1

OK I wanna get this right now, don't wanna brick my phone. First of all is this reversible and second of all do I just use that Tato MiniFlex Module for it ?

Sure, Jedi attached his edited 005b_0001 seem (http://jedixjarf.zip.io/maxxfiles/005b_001.seem) to that post, simply download the file, open P2k Commander 4.9.3 or higher, and in the top right drop-down window go to P2K Seems. Then in the first box type 005b, and in the second box type 0001. Then click LOAD from file and write. Navigate to Jedi's modded 005b seem you just downloaded and select it and hit OK. Restart your phone.
You should be done then. ;)

Just before I do, is there any way to reverse this edit ?
Can you backup seems ?

Sure. Do exactly what I said, except instead of clicking the "LOAD from file and write" click the "READ from phone and save" or whatever. Then save it wherever you'd like. Now you have your backup, and can put Jedi's modded seem on.

Thank you all so much ! I've been seeking an answer to this problem since I got the phone in December and you've given the answer to me in one night.

Dude, can you let us know how the edits worked for you? I'm particularly interested to see if the warning seem edit that I posted worked.

Maddcow, I tried it out but it didn't do anything. I think that may be because the browser button on the Telstra phone is a carrier button, executing a "different" type of browser. However when I went to the browser in the phone menu, it showed me a warning, which is what its supposed to do right ?

Yep. The seem will only work on the unbranded component of the software, because the Telstra links are different. What does the warning actually say? I'd like to edit my seem post so that it says the English phrase, not the bad Italian Babelfish translation!

i'd like it to say, "would you like cingular to empty your wallet some more?"
