View Full Version : Changing profile when holding # button

I come with another challenge. Hopefully someone can help me out. Every morning I hold the # button down to change my profile from Vibe & Ring to Silent.
Unfortunately, the Silent profile means that the phone doesn't even vibrate when someone rings, which is extremely inconvenient for me and the people ringing me.
Due to the fact that I'm very lazy, I'd rather have the phone change to Vibrate rather than Silent when I hold the hash button, instead of having to do it by any other means.
I have a feeling that this may be harder than the carrier button challenge I posed and had successfully answered, but with quality modders like JedixJarf, poetic_folly and Maddcow on this forum, who knows ?

If you use the non-vodafone firmware you wont have that problem (assuming your using the vodafone f/w?)

Ooh no can do unfortunately, it would mean the loss of the WCDMA 850 band and hence the loss of NextG enriched content =(

well you could flash the unbranded one on pioneers site then flash the telstra flex :)

Sounds like a lot of flashing. Is it possible to compare the two sets of firmware and try to locate the modification instead ?

well it will probably take me a day or so to find out exactly how to change what your wanting. so if you do mind waiting that long then its cool.

well the mod might be in the 0032_0001 seem so if you would like you can try using my seem but make sure you back your seem up!

I tried it but alas, no good.
I can patiently wait, this I don't mind, as long as it doesn't impose on you at all to find this stuff for me.
I'd be most appreciative if you could though. Thanks so much.

Bressman, I'm an Aussie and use this Telstra MP: R26111VL-AS_U_96.66.74R - USVOLANT878HHR26111056_1FF
http://motopioneer.com/files/R26111VL-AS_U_96.66.74R%20-%20USVOLANT878HHR26111056_1FF.rar (http://motopioneer.com/files/R26111VL-AS_U_96.66.74R%20-%20USVOLANT878HHR26111056_1FF.rar)
It's identical to the original so don't worry about Australian usage - trust me, it works perfectly and you won't know the difference.
Finally, Telstra 3G also uses WCDMA 2100 so you can actually use the Italian flexes also. I used WCDMA 2100 for a couple of months and there was no difference for me.
BUT, make backups before you do ANYTHING!!! Use FB3 to create .shx files of each CG because they're a lot easier to flash back on using RSD Lite, compared to .smg files where you have to use FB3.

@JediXJarf: The two backup seems you asked for are in the attachment on this post.
@Maddcow: So you think that reflexing the phone with the file you provided will work ? If so, I'll use it as a backup option if Jedi can't find the particular mod I'm looking for.

I don't know if it'll help with the original problem you were asking about, but the MP I linked to will definitely provide you with all the Aussie Telstra network setups (inc WCDMA 850/2100) if you mess things up with seem edits etc

Ah alright that should come in handy. You've been thanked for that :)
EDIT: I only just thought of this. What if we just changed the properties of the profile rather than seem editing the buttons (ie: Change Silent so it vibrates on phone calls instead of having nothing). I noticed in the Silent profile itself though, there are no options for ringing, message tones etc, which could be a problem

I hex compared your 0032 seem to mine and the only difference is in offset 002 where 8B in mine has been changed to 89 in yours, which I have a feeling is the Line 1 icon because your seem has it and mine doesn't, so no luck there as yet :(

DOUBLE POST: Sorry to bring up such an old post, but xlr8 posted a tutorial on p2k05 seems. It included some rather interesting information, relavent to this topic.
SEEM 004a_0001/004b_0001
**all offsets are HEX**
**no bit manipulation here, just change the actual value in the offset**
**SOME PEOPLE HAVE NOTED MIXED RESULTS WITH THESE HACKS; THEY MAY OR MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU**
offset 22 (01 for custom startup sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Start~up.mp3, 00 for no custom startup sound), may need to adjust 0032_0001, offset 24, bit 3
offset 23 (01 for custom startup in stored seems 0206/0208, 00 for no custom startup)
offset 24 (01 for custom shutdown sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Power~down.mp3, 00 for no custom shutdown sound)
offset 27 (00 for custom outer image from path saved in seems 0061/0062, 01 for custom outer text stored in seems 0061/0062, 02 for Motorola icon)
offset 4D (00 SIM card NOT required for phone access, 01 SIM card required for phone access)
offset 80 (01 for number display with no dashes, 00 for number display with dashes- 1-404-555-1212)
offset 148 (01 for MTWTFSS week format in calendar, 00 for SMTWTFS week format in calendar)
offset 1A1 (01 for no WMV support, FF for WMV support) see also offset 0310
offset 1BE (00 for no deletion of inbox, outbox, drafts messages on sim swap)
offset 1D1 (01 for .3gp video record, 03 for .mp4 video record)
offset 1ED swap to ring style when press/hold # key (01 soft, 02 vibrate, 03 vibe then ring, 04 silent, 05 vibe&ring)
offset 207 (01 charge via computer USB connection, 00 do not charge via computer USB connection)
offset 310 (01 for no WMV support, 00 for WMV support) see also offset 01A1
Excited as I was about this, I tried immediately. Unfortunately it didn't work out at all. The hex value of that particular offset was 00 for both 004a and 004b. Can anyone shed some light on this ?

Yes, I think the map is wrong on this. I have a v3xx and at offset 1ED the values are 00 in both seems. And my cingular v3xx already has the vibrate as default when you hold the # key.

My seems are the same way, Hex=00
