View Full Version : Do I have a paperweight L7?

My friend just gave me an L7 that he purchased on Craigslist for cheap. The problem is the phone can't be turned on at all. I have recharged the battery to full but it would still not turn on. No known history of what happened. Cosmetically everything is intact. The circle behind the battery is white so don't suspect it was water damaged. Any hints on what to do? I charged the battery with my other L7 but nothing comes up. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Try starting the phone up by holding down the * and # key. This will start it up in boot loader mode. Actually, the best way for you is to take out the battery, hold those keys down, and while still holding them down put the battery in. If it doesn't start then hold down the power button too. If you can get to boot loader mode you can reprogram the phone. If not, then there are other, more involved ways involving taking the phone apart which may work.

when you charged the phone did it have a lit up screen? If not you may have a seriously defective phone.

Like they say sometimes you get what you pay for. :(

sounds like a corrupted bootloader. the phone needs to be sent to someone with a smart clip. like hagan. pm him if you are in the us

@b00bytr@p: I charged the battery with my working L7 and not with the dead L7 and even when I try to charge with the dead L7, screen didn't light up. My friend told me last night that the guy who sold him the L7 told my friend that when he plugged the L7 into the PC, it lighted up but I couldn't duplicate it no matter how I tried.

See if RSD lite will see it, it may be a blank neptune, if it sees it, MP it and all is well. RSD is great at this, Ive done two blank neptunes like this. Make sure your battery is fully charged and run PST in the background, the phone wont show any visible activity but RSD sees it anyway. I saved my a630 twice, and my R376 phone once lol

OK, good idea with the battery, I'm really curious if RSD worked for you as suggested by Milkbone98. It worked for me only once I got the bootloader screen up. So not to jinxs ya, but if it is the bootloader your probably gonna have to get that fixed before anything else works. Good Luck

ok. I am still waiting hagan's response. I did a little research and found there is a way to force bootloader at this link (http://e398essentials.wikispaces.com/Force+Boot+Method). Only problem is it's for E398 model. Is there a way to do this for L7?

Thanks. Hope he responds soon. In the mean time, I would try to see if I can revive it. Anyone with Moto Repair Studio they can send to me? It's no longer downloadable and I guess it's considered warez so no link is allowed but I suppose some kind hearted person can send it to me through email, I would be very grateful :)

I'm here, i was out fishing caught me a 12 lbs walleye ..yea!!!.
Do not use repstudio on it!! will make it worst. does this one have itune key?

Wooot!! the man is in the house. I assume when you said itune key meaning is it Cingular L7? No, not this one. I have replied to your PM with one more question before sending out this phone to you. Thanks

Yes, I have dealt with him before. He is Old Fool on Mobiledia and I didn't know he went by hagan here. Had 2 razrs unlocked by him almost a year ago and was very satisfied with the service. I'm sending him the phone as well a little donation for his service tomorrow.

I sincerely appreciate all your advices and help :thumbsup:
