Hi folks,

I have an O2 branded, unlocked phone operating on the T-Mobile network in California. I've been doing some seem editing to remove GPRS icon, roaming icon, etc. However, the recommended seem edits for changing these functions doesn't seem to work on my phone. I suspect it's the O2 branding. The O2 software changes to the phone are extensive (in my opinion). It changes button functions, adds in lots of extra functions that I don't want, etc.

The phone is kinda buggy. After I turn it on and let it sit for about half an hour, it turns itself off. When I turn it back on, it hangs. Sometimes during a call, it shuts off. Sometimes if I push a certain button or navigate to a specific menu, the phone will freeze up. I don't know if it's the phone itself, the O2 firmware or my seem edits that are the cause of the problems. I've reloaded the original seems and the problems are still there. Anyway, I'm at the point where I'd like to install a Monster Pack and reflash to get this phone to a generic Motorola configuration.

My desires are just a standard configuration (stock icons, wallpaper, functions, etc) with an English language pack. I don't use my phone to listen to music so I don't need a DAP or iTunes. Can someone recommend a stock generic MP and reflash for this phone?

Thanks,

Ed

Thanks for the suggestion. Is there also a Reflash to use after installing that MP or do I just install the MP?

I successfully flashed the MP and the reflash and it works fine so far. Thanks. I'll give it a day or two for testing.

Well, after trying this MP, I'm not having good results. It may be my phone though. After loading the MP and Reflash, the phone worked well for a few days, then started shutting itself off after being dormant for 15-20 minutes, then it started freezing up when navigating menus, then it would just shut off during a call, come up in boot loader mode when trying to turn on, etc. It's getting progressively worse, so I'm going to try another MP. On the hardware side, I've tried the standard battery, the standard battery with the folded up business card, the BC70 hi-capacity battery, and neither of those has made a difference. I tried squeezing the phone, twisting it, pushing on the sides and back to see if there's some sort of mechanical defect that's causing this behavior and none of that made any difference. So, I'm leaning towards it being a software problem. Once I've loaded this new T-Mobile MP, I'll report back.

Sounds like just a bad software, yup. Let us know how the new one goes.

This new MP seems to be working o.k. after 2 days of use.

Well, I spoke too soon. This latest MP has bugs too (at least on my phone and it may also be a phone hardware problem).

After I turn my phone on, it boots up fine and then after about 5 minutes, it shuts itself off. When I try to turn it back on, I get a boot loader screen. Sometimes during a call it just shuts off. Sometimes I get a Critical Error screen with a couple of letters and numbers, sometimes when I'm navigating through the menus, it freezes up and I have to remove the battery to get it to work again. Oh well. I'm glad this isn't my only phone.

Yeah, it might be a hardware problem but some of the behavior sure acts like software. The original O2-branded software had the least number of problems but after I did several seem edits, it became unstable. I then installed the 85.9A.80R and it had problems, then I tried the 86_1_.31 34P (which is currently in the phone) and it had problems and is the worst of the 3, so maybe it is a hardware problem. I can't imagine 3 separate software loads all being problematic.

I've already tried that one. That was the one I was using before what's in there now (which is the 86_1_.31 34P). Both have issues in my phone (random shut downs, starting in bootloader, Critical Error message on the screen). I'm kinda at a loss as to which one to use next. I'm using RSDLite 2.8 to load the software.

BTW, can I get by with just installing the MP or do I always need to do a reflash?

Well, I looked through the MP files and I think Ill try 85.97.70R. I'll see how that one works.

As part of your troubleshooting, consider this. I've used all of the MPs and reflashes from 85.99.50 on without significant issues. The one constant in your situation is your hardware because I agree with you--what's the chances of all those firmware releases causing the same problems you're experiencing--the same problems you've experienced even with the original firmware?

Odds are you have defective hardware because you're experiencing the same problems regardless of what firmware is intalled on the phone. Consider having a technician check out your phone.

Good luck,

i'm currently using
Booloader: 0682
S/W: R252211LD_AS_U_85.9B.D0R
Flex: USRAZRV3XT677ASR25221009
Language: 0024

So for no problem, only takes long time to response 1-2 minutes after switch on. My question is, is this new? Do you guys suggest to use any MP, flex etc.? btw how can we know which software is latest by looking at the number?

Thanks & regards

Good luck,

Earl,

I agree with you. I think my phone has a problem. No wonder the price was so good. It is a German-made one too. Do I have any options? Since I've done so much modding with it, I don't think I have any sort of warranty, especially with the eBay seller. Is there are test of some sort that will tell me what's wrong with it?
