12-icon menu for "V3T"'s, R3443U5 Series.

Note that this is the FIRST modified mma (mma_ucp) that has been found to WORK on the R3443U5.

After more hours than I care to admit searching high and low, plus trying various mma's and bricking my phone a couple of times :furious: I found this R479 based 12-icon mma that WORKS on the R3443U5 V3T.

R3443U5 (V3T, as sold by T-Mobile-Stock ),
no custom MP’s DRM's have been flashed to this unit

Problem:

After any edit of the mma_ucp, Menu items do not display correctly

After a edit of the Mma_ucp the:

1: USB setting under connections is miss-linked, does not work, cannot change USB settings from Memory Card to Data/Fax connection.
2: Under connections “Active Call” shows, instead of USB settings.. Active call being linked to ALARM CLOCK.

Tools used:
Using P2K Menu editor 2.3 to edit menu
MMA Converter 1[1].3 to convert mma_ucp so it can be edited by P2K Menu editor 2.3

Have tried both selecting” and “un-selecting” the MMA Converter check box. One post I read saying to check it the first go around, then not the second… that didn’t work either.

P2K Menu Editor v 2.3 lists "Stock mma_ucp as:
1: <???> (which is VOICE NOTES) (has branding links)
2: Recent Calls

6: Multimedia (menu Item caption= Fun & Apps)
7: Help (has branding links)
8: Phonebook
9: Settings

Modified Mma_ucp (Menu) should be displaying the following as the “Icons”
1: USB settings
2: Datebook
3: WebAcess
4: AlarmClock
5: Recent Call
6: Multimedia
7: Help ( This is the only “branded icon- have tried deleting that one as well + toggling on options in the hidden menu via P2K Menu editor 2.3 as well)
8: Phonebook
9: Settings

1: After a edit of the "stock" R3443U5 mma USB settings go away, and the menu icons don’t match up what they are supposed to be.
(Edit, this is because the phone is reverting to the emergency mma, the phone after a edit of the mma detecting the org mma is "corrupt"...).

2: Some of the menu items in P2K Menu Editior showing PASSWORD-LOCKED

Noticed that on the following items a RED box under Parmarters /Menu Item name says on the following items PASSWORD-LOCKED:

Voice Notes
Get More (each link within also being pass-word locked)
Settings ( the <????>, Voice notes showing as password-locked)


Have tried toggling OFF that box, saving file as such, then selecting Clear All… that strips the branding links and resaving the file with NO effect.
The only thing I have not done is to delete the files themselves that the branding links point to.
(I have also tried “patching” the skin)... still a NO-GO...


BTW... on that LAST icon on the lower right on the modified menu... It say "Extra's, and when you click on it it brings up (2) options (IM), and Multimedia.

ive tried messing around with that alot when i first got my razr, since then i have accepted the fact it doesnt work, ive never been able to get the 9 icons i wont, or a 12 icon menu, i did figure out how to change all the pictures though(even voice note and tmo internet) but thats it

Note that this is the first modified mma that has been found to WORK on the R3443U5.

This mma gets rid of the T-Mobile links (junk) in the main menu.+ adds 12-icons.:cheers:

Previously I had tried to edit the stock mma, with the result being the phone wouldn't boot,... or it defaulting to the emergency mma..:(

First go around used SkiManger to install the mma, selecting the 3x4 (maybe errors with some skins), then I checked the box towards the box that says something to the effect "fix errors".... When I did that the phone locked up big time. Install notes in readme.

NOTE: According to what I've read DO NOT MODIFY this MMA_UCP with a "editor".

If you need to change the postions of the items, do that via the phone itself!!! otherwise it won't work,

Hopefully Meiner Einer, the creator of the MMA Converter with Branding can shed some light on that.

Edit 5-12-2007... if I'm reading some posts right you can edit this mma to add things like AIM (which this mma does not have by default)...

The trick being NOT to replace any of the main icons, but instead create a seperate entry under one of the main icons. Putting AIM under tools for example.

use skiman (does it work on the v3t?) and select the option near the bottom about if blah blah caused errors check this.

It's a problem with the skin not the mma most likely

Q: Did you manually HEX EDIT the mma_ucp to get the AIM working?
(if so expand in detail saying what you DID... Sure others might be "interested"!)

I ask because editing the MMA_UCP thru P2K Menu Editor v2.3 causes the phone to revert back to the emergency mma when editing the "stock" mma...

I was wondering "if" by using the R479 series mma if that mma can be edited without errors.

You have to patch the skin, change it from 3x3 to 3x4.

3x3=9
3x4=12 icons

I applied the above at the time to a pretty much stock R3443U5_V3T_T-MO_USA so I would think it would work on the D&G as well once you patch the skin.

sorry i've been away for awhile, but heres how you fix aim
1) you open the mma_ucp in the converter program
2) convert it
3) open in P2k menu editor
4) add aim under "tools"
5) save it
6) covert it back using the coverter
7) upload it to your phone
8) then its there, then you can set it as a soft key or w/e

i didn't try to put it on the main menu, so idk if that would work, you can try it

honestly i have no idea which mma_ucp is which on my computer, i have like 40 floating around in different files.
ill post mine 2morrow if you want it (i just have to take it off my phone)(aim is under tools and left soft key).
if you dont want to wait, the above steps take literally 2 minutes, but if you scared of messing up or w/e its okay, it'll be here 2morrow afternoon

Ok, I got the new mma_ucp installed.. had to change a couple things (like AIM) and patch all of my skins (the patch works on the stock Moto skins as well).. but its working. :) thanks for the offer brettmalbin.. but I had some time this AM I did not think I would have had to get it all done.

Just to clarify... you used the R479 V3i based 12 icon menu I posted, then edited it with P2K Menu Editor v2.3... , putting AIM in one of the sub-menu's.... OR did you edit the orginal R3443U5 V3T mma_ucp.... (or the 479) HEX EDITOR?

(If you used a Hex Editor please post info on that!)

PS: If you could for the beneft of those AIM users that may need it, please upload your R3443U5/R479 mma_ucp as a file attachment... Rar'ing/Zipping with a readme... and if you want to get really fancy (prefered method) use Msnap v0.2 (20060713)- Grabs Screenshots from P2K phone... add the screenshot to show what the menu will look like.

I have tried several times to save your mma_ucp without the .txt attached but my puter and the phone still see it as a text file. :confused: I really miss my AIM and would like to load your menu set but cannot because of this issue. Could you perhaps load the menu set as a rar so we can all get at it?

Hey No Problem. I Am Working On A 4x4 Icon Menu So When I Get It Working I'll Post That. I Would Like To Do A Tabbed Menubar But I Dont Know If It Will Work Plus So Few Skins Support It So It May Not Be Worth The Trouble

I think I might have seen a pic of one in all my lurking and searching but I can't be sure. 12 is just about perfect IMO...but I know that once I get used to having one I wouldn't want to go back. Have you seen the mma_ucp for the black_as_moto_by_robertpaul skin? It is a very nice skin with vodaphone icons and a bunch of extras one of those being the 14 icon menu set. I can't seem to find my copy but I'm sure you can find it being the industrious individual that you are. Can't wait to see :woot: what you can do!
