Just today, I bought the sprint slvr from best buy as a phone upgrade and as a replacement for my busted mp3 player.

One my of friends had the same phone from Cingular and was able to upload songs onto it and use it as an mp3 player. His phone came with a cd, headset, manual, and, If I'm not mistaken, a data cable

The phone I bought came with only a ac adapter, the manual and nothing else.

When I tried to attach it to my computer to upload songs, the computer launched the 'add new hardware wizard' - not thinking much about it, I closed it and told it not to show this window again (or something to that effect). when I realized that I could not connect to the phone through My Computer, I tried iTunes. That also did not work and by this point, I was getting a little agitated.

I browsed the web and found that some people are saying that the Sprint users were ripped off in that there was no way of uploading songs directly from the computer to the phone. Ads claim that the phone supports mp3, but I'm starting to think that it only supports mp3s downloaded from Sprint.

If there's any way of putting songs onto this phone, please let me know. Thanks.

Look in the CDMA forum. Use either Bluetooth or a card reader. I have a V3m, which is essentially the same phone, and I love it. Also, there is no iTunes, its a different music player. Do an OTA software update and it will support ID3 tags and album art.

Is there any way other than bluetooth or the use of a card reader?

Also, cdmaforums.com didn't have much on sprint-nextel phones - 6 threads to be exact. That was the site you recommended, right?

no, I meant the forum about CDMA phones here on MMM. http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9
Card reader is easiest and fastest, you can get a cheap SD card reader for like $8 at Radio Shack, just use the adapter that came with your card. Or you can hunt around Sprint.com for the app to connect to your phone, I tried and got aggravated after like 5 minutes, that site blows.
