v360 for beginners?

Hello. This is my first post... I have been reading and looking for information, and I find pieces of stuff - but people talk in acronyms and the "Glossary" on ModMyMoto doesn't have all the information.

I found the downloads and monster packs here:

But I want to make sure I understand things first.

Here are my questions, thanks in advance for any answers:

1. What is RSA? What does it mean when they say "RSA Removed?"

2. In the "guides" they talk about basic Motorola firmware flashes, which bring firmware up to date, remove carrier configurations, etc... I don't see any for the v360. Is there a way to just update the firmware to the latest versions and to the Motorola default (instead of say, T-Mobile's version)?

3. Can I edit moster-packs to only include the things I want? Like which apps I want or not?

4. People talk about AER and how it is sticky. What is AER? How do I tell if I have it? If I am understanding correctly I think it is a version of the firmware - and I get that it is not replacable.

5. My current S/W version is R4513_G_08.B7.86R - what does this mean? Do I have to use specific things on my v360?

6. Can I completely back up what my phone has now, in case I screw something up I can put it back?

7. Is there anything I am obviously missing that maybe you "pros" are laughing at right now, that I should know to prevent damage to my phone, innocent bystanders, or the lithuanian economy?

You do not have aer (sticky) firmware, so do not flash an aer mp.

Let's see what I can answer:

3. Yes you can edit MP's to what ever you feel fits you.

4. You don't have AER, and yes it's a version of software. You currently have R4513_G_08.B7.86R, if you had AER it would have said: R4513_G_08.B7.AER.

5. Hmm I don't really understand what you mean. You can use all apps and themes like on any other software.

6. You can completely backup your phone if you have registered F&B, if not all you can backup is your software. You will loose skins, settings, your phonebook, sounds and pics ( on the phone's memory not what's on the memory card/TF ). You can backup your phonebook using MotoDataRecovery (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=1727). All those stuff I mentioned you will loose can be replaced by others, it's not a big deal, only if you set up your phone in a way that you really like and don't want to do it all over again.

7. I can only think of this: turn off your phone, start it in bootloader mode ( * # Red key at the same time ) and see your Bootloader 08.A0 / 08.D0 / 09.02. Don't flash mp's/firmware's that are not ment for your bootloader.

A tip I can give you is this: look in the guides section of L7, as the v360 and L7 are much alike.

I'm not sure. But why else would they list the lp with the downloads? Just thought it might be something to note and persue further. As for your phones lp...menu, settings, phone status, other information, language list.

Here's (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/slvr/lplist.php) a LP List. Look for the languages you need, then find a LP/Font that has them.

if you cant find the font with the language pack your after, put a request in the font forum
