SIM trouble with RIZR Z8

I am having trouble with my Z8 finding and staying on my local network.

I want to change to the ferrari MP, but I don't want to mess with it
without it working correctly.

I am running it stock with this software version:
ESPOO_U_46.03.
D6G_000005fe
espoo_uiq_31_200648_
2283C3_I_20070913
Moto_build: 2283C3_I...

I have a SIM card from when I first got my V3 RAZR a few years ago, is
it possible that it is outdated? It worked fine in my Z3 and in the RAZR
that it's in currently.

There is a Network connection screen in the control panel of the Z8.
Is there a tricky way that I have to register it to the network?

there is no trick just put the sim in and start the phone ... the network should be detected automatically....

are you sure the sim is available or is out of date...try it on another phone and see if works;)

SIM works fine in my other phones (V3, Z3)

The Z8 acts very strange. I put my SIM card in it and it will
register to my network.

I try to call my number from a land line and it goes to voicemail.

I try to make a call from the Z8 and it doesn't connect.

few second later the phone shows "Emergency mode"

Then few more seconds later back to my network carrier name.

Any ideas?

Anyone think that it might be a software version issue? I don't really
want to change anything like that before figuring out if it's my SIM or
the phone or what.
