Motorola's latest moves to attract software developers are making Motorola look a little less dead. Today in the mobile phone market it is important to have a community of developers creating applications that run natively on phones. In the past Motorola's motodev (http://developer.motorola.com/) center offerings have been limited to basic java applications.
Motorola is now making changes to help developers create great programs to run on motorola devices easier.
They have updated MOTODEV Studio, an integrated development environment based on an open framework with tools for the Symbian UIQ, MOTO Z8 and MOTO Z10 (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150641) handset platforms, the JSR248 mobile service architecture subset, and the MOTO Z6w (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68747) which is build on Motorola's linux os.
Future updates are expected as soon as June to support the Symbian platform of the Motorola Z8 (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41401) and Z10 (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150641). The beta developer program named MOTODEV Studio for UIQ will allow development of programs in C/C++ which will lead to more powerful and refined program offerings.
Also coming soon will be MOTODEV Studio for Linux which will offer C/C++ programing for the MOTOMAGX platform (read Motorola V8 and Z6 (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42017)).
Here's hoping to developers hop on board to create some awesome applications to run on our Motos
