Here's a "Getting Connected" Tip for Mac Users to easily find your phone usb ID address (especially for those - like me! - who aren't overly comfy using Terminal). Hope what follows makes some sense and proves useful.
-----------------------
No need for Terminal in OSX to find cell phone usb ID address.
Mac Users Easily Find Your Cell Phone usb "address" needed for Moto4Lin:
1. Download the Shareware program called "OnSync". http://www.onmadesoft.com
2. Install "OnSync" on your Mac.
3. Connect your phone to your Mac via USB cable.
4. Start up the OnSync program. (This is a great shareware program for "syncing" your phonebooks on your Mac and your phone.)
5. Open OnSync Preferences panel.
6. Click on the "Mobile Device" icon at the top of the OnSync Pref panel.
7. ---
- Select the "Serial" button - located under "Connection Configuration" on this panel.
- Your cell phone "device address" will show in the "Serial Device" pane to the right.
- Copy this "device address" for use in Moto4Lin.
(This is the "phone address" you need to enable you to use Moto4Lin.)
NOTE: For some reason the "USB" button is disabled on the OnSync Preferences pane, but the Serial button works with USB cellphones, so just click on it and your USB phone will show up as noted above.
That's it! You're all done!
** If you don't see your phone address in the "Serial Device" pane to the right (something like: "/dev//cu.usbmodem19121"), press the "Test Connection" button on this Perferences panel. After a few moments, your phone ID should be shown.
**HELP: Should you have difficulty, there is a great Help File included with OnSync which will quickly walk you through the entire process (- far better than I have here!). Just click "OnSync Help" on the Menu Bar.
Of course once you have your phone usb address, then just follow the great "Getting Connected" tutorial at http://mac.themotoguide.com/getconnected.php. (and now that you already have your phone usb ID, you can skip the "Finding Your Phone's USB ID" instructions in the "Getting Connected" tutorial.)
------------------------------
Cheers!
Happy Mac MotoModding!
PS: Does anyone know if I can (or if it's wise to try to) install the Tiger or Leopard skin on the Motorola Slvr L2?
