e398 / ROKR Guides Section Live!!!

Hey guys, the e398 and ROKR Guides Section (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/e398) is now live! You can bookmark it at www.modmymoto.com/guides/e398 (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/e398).

All guides will be added to that section from now on, same as the guides for the other phones.

A few guidelines on new guide submission:

ModMyMoto loves screenshots. Make sure and include plenty of visuals on what you are talking about... n00bs love to SEE as well as read.
If the guide you are submitting was NOT written by you, please make sure you have contacted the original author, and have express permission to use it here and host the images included. And pm me a copy of that permission. We want to be on everyone's good side!
When you create a new guide or get a new one to include in our guide section, please submit a thread in the Guides | Downloads | Forum suggestions Forum (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8) titled [ e398 Guide ] ~ {guide title**. We will then upload it and close the thread once it is uploaded.

The more guides people post here, the more I add. I don't have an e398, nor have I ever... so I'm not the guy to ask. All you ROKR peeps gott keep on postin the guides... I'll add em up as quick as you add em here!

oh man i think my e398 is screwed up :( I revived my e398 but it can't find any network after flashing it :'( can anyone tell me if there's a solution?????? plzzzzz or maybe i should buy a new phone?? daaarn

Well I just discovered something in the guides section. On selecting e398/ROKR, the right pane shows 'v3x Guides Section'... Isnt this a bug or is it intended that way?

hi,
i m a e398 user..i have some problem and pls give me solution..
i was using gprs and douwloaded a player for memory card from web and when installing this player my moto gone...

it starts with moto screen then shows white screen and off then again white screen and gone off...
i tried to *=# to start bootloader ..then i flashes my phone(using flash backup 2.6) with a monster pack..its again..same reaction with different new modded screen..
i tried to flash again with that mp but with selected file(only fiemware)..then my moto gone to hell means it is now completly dead..what should i do know?
i tried *=# or 4+5 method to boot but no work..but sometimes it only creat sound (tosh with vibration)..pls give me solution

Ok... I just got a second-hand ROKR E1 today and I'm looking for some modding tutorials. I used to own a Nokia N70 BTW, which I also use as a music player. But I sold it and bought the ROKR E1 instead because I needed extra cash and the sound quality is good too. I got the E1 for 2000 Php (around $40), so I'm a happy person. The 1 GB microSD card did cost me 950 Php (around $19) though. Half the price of the phone. LOL.

Anyway, I've been looking through the tutorials and they're all JUMBLED AND MESSED UP! I don't know what to read and I can't identify which is which and what tutorial that tutorial that's for. Isn't there an all-in-one tutorial for newbies? This is my first time owning a Motorola and texting is UNBEARABLY SLOW while playing music! My Nokia N70 can run a music player, a GBA emulator in the background while texting and still NOT slow down. I read that some firmwares can speed things a lot for the ROKR. BTW, can I take out the 100 Mp3 limit for the iTunes? It's annoying...

Anyway... Thanks and more power. I hope you guys can help me. I might have to sell this phone again if I can't fix that annoying slow-texting problem and the 100 song limit in iTunes.

Welcome :) First take a look at the guides section (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/e398). Get connected first. Step 2 create a backup of your phone using Flash&Backup from the downloads section so that you can restore if something goes wrong. Step 3, select a nice new MP from the downloads section and flash it. You're done! Its that simple really.

Thanks for the welcome xitix7728. I didn't expect such a quick reply. I'm past the firmware backup phase now, but there isn't a guide for the actual flashing itself. I know it's a tedious process so I'm taking extra care in this step. I've flashed several HTC Windows Mobile Phones and PSPs before. Luckily enough I haven't bricked any units, mainly because there were step by step guides. But I know people who weren't as lucky as me.

BTW, I've also read more threads just a while ago and it seems that the ROKR E1/E398 can never really die from flashing the firmware. Is this true? It'd be an oddity in the cellphone world if it's true.

And oh, I'm loving the iTunes! It's just like the days when I still had my iPod Photo! Well, without the click-wheel of course. But I just hope it wouldn't be too damn slow.

yep,E398/ROKR is literally unkillable :)
Flashing is not a tedious process.. It just takes some 5-10 minutes to flash an MP. Beware to flash MPs made for your ROKR only (Bootloader 0A.02)

MP stands for "Monster Pack" right? Why would I beware of MPs for ROKR E1s only? I'm using a ROKR E1. It doesn't make sense.

Because in downloads section,E398(Bootloader 07.D0)and ROKR MPs are at the same category..

i've seen the e398 backup with flash&backup 3 --editing the profile in flash&backup 3. can i do it with ROKR e1? has anyone tried that thing?

I tried it goes flawless on bootloader but when it starts processing on PDS, the phone shutdown from bootload. is it really working?
