i know this has been covered in several different posts all over this thread, so i was wondering if i can get the answers all in one post, so here we go...
i don't mind the verizon locked out info for the most part. the things i do have a problem with are the lack of using of mp3s as ringtones and lack of being able to transfer pics from the phone easily without buying a microSD. i have a v3m, btw.
right now, i'm as far as my computer being able to recognize it as a usb modem, so i was wondering if it is worth it to flash my firmware, just to get those 2 things working? honest opinions and instructions are the things i'm looking for. i'm hesitant about flashing my firmware because i'm new to anything that can brick my phone. i just got it last week and i'd like to keep it around as long as i can. i have a copy of the firmware file specifically for the v3m that i got on this site (http://ryfiles.com/flash/), mentioned on this thread on another site (http://www.futuremark.com/forum/showthread.php?p=185222), and was wondering if anyone knows if its compatible with the newest version of the MPT (i believe is either mobile phone tools or motorola phone tools, i've seen it listed as both) that i can get from verizon. if i can get it from there and use that cd, i'll consider buying it, but i heard that verizon forced motorola to make another set of the motorola phone tools because people were using it to modify their razrs or something to that effect. am i missing a step? i have a feeling that i am. if needed, i can always suffer using this phone until july of next year when my 2 year contract is up with them and i can get another phone so i could afford to brick this one if needed.
any input is definately welcome and will not be breezed through. i've only been on your site so far today, but i've been to several motorola razr modding sites that ALL mentioned the forums on here. if you guys and gals can't help me, i won't be disaappointed, just happy to know that my questions won't be turned away and mocked.
