they are the same. they have R452D firmware. the L7imode is the different one.

the L7e just had english characters.
but yes, they are the same phone hardware.

from what i have read..

L71 and the L7e heve the same hardware, with different firmwares. the difference is from where they are released.

L71 is for the asian market
L7e is for the european market

Personally speaking I live in Shanghai and I recently bought the L71. It has chinese language support installed and Chinese stroke characters on the keypad, as mentioned. Internal mem is 20 MB, and has bluetooth 2.0.

i bought a L7i in Venezuela and it has the same specs of the L7e mentioned by celebrityx... the only diference is that it does not have the chinese characters or lenguage option, just english and spanish

Slvr L7e/L7i/L71 (support up to 2Gig)
L7e is supported by edge which is theoretically faster than the others. firmwares are almost the same. memory is the same. L71 has chinese characters and templates distributed in Asia and Mandarin speaking countries (?) These phones are obvoiusly an upgrade of the L7 catering to countries who has different wap support. All are available in blue and black colors with surprisingly better pic quality and almost unlimited video cap depending on the memory card you put in. It's automatically going to cut your video record when you are using phone memory. All have game and software support from zedge.com, hovr.com, ************ ( i find it hard to use ). the phones are great and I prefer it in black. Purple one is always being mistaken to have no memory card and another available color for L6. I find it unfair. one thing is sure, it requires software which is hard to get used to not because i'm dumb but because its not user friendly and requires a lot of effort before you can get a good skin. Yaiks!!! other mobile phone made it easier for their customer to change skin and themes. Why? well, how would you enjoy your phone when you have to do more things than just double click just to have a skin? L7e have wap support and like all other motorola phones it can't save long URLs which disallow you to save pages from wap. L71 gets attention in Hongkong and singapore. just like the other two it weighs heavier than the slimmest fone from nokia. I dropped it (L7e) twice and still works just fine. the camera is good but the night mode needs light to capture pic...he he ambitious thought without the flash ha ha.
i like the V3m and (waiting for the upcoming morphing moto music phone) this fone boast excellent speaker for a bar type phone at this value. It's just hard to get compatible add-on software even from own-site Mymoto.com.. hu hu contact me guys and educate me...

LoLs, after the long story he told, L71/e/i are just the same(especially hardware)... And the EDGE that he's talking about, it's not just theoretically faster than GPRS, it's a fact that EDGE is much faster than GPRS...
