Please, someone help me flash my Z8

So, the first Z8 I received, I wasn't able to access the menu where you hold 1, 3 and # while you place in the battery. As I needed to install the Ferrari firmware since this phone kept freezing on me. So, since I couldn't figure out how to do it, I just exchanged it for another new Z8, this one doesn't freeze, but I still can't figure out how to flash this Z8 with the Ferrari firmware so I have no more problems!

turn off the phone and press # * and power off till boot is show....

if no success remove the battery and press * # and slighty insert the battery...

flash using rsd-lite 4.1

Where can I download that version of RSD-Lite 4.1? Also, am I supposed to hold down the buttons or just press them, I tried both and the phone just turns on or it just turns off. Is this the only way I can flash my phone?

Alright, I see what you mean, I slightly inserted the battery and then pressed the keys and now I'm in the ESPOO Flash Loader (Vers. 46.02.14). Thank you!! But now, when I try to flash with v3.9.1 of RSD Lite, it doesn't work. It always says fail.

Alright, I have all the RSD-Lite's downloaded. The 4.0 versions and above can't even load the firmware I select (Ferrari that I found on here). The 3.9 version can, but then it just says fail. I'm going to try 3.2 real quick.

Alright, none of the RSD Lite's work. Is there any other way I can flash my phone? It always says flashing failed (0x700)

well there is no other ways since F&B and other programs cannot work with Z8....

worked just great for me....

my suggestion it to reinstall the p2k drivers (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11122) and change the usb port ...

don't use front usb will not work:)

Thanks! I plugged it on the back ports now and RSD 3.9 detected it and everything and read me everything about my phone and then I hit flash and it put my phone in ESPOO MODE or whatever but then when I hit flash..it began to flash and then it said failed. =( but that's the furthest I've ever made it towards finally flashing my phone. Now what?

Finally! It worked! I had to use my old laptop, which has XP installed. I have Vista installed on this computer. I installed the Ferrari firmware that you uploaded. Thank you! I just hate the font that it gives, but if it fixes my phone that good. Even though when I turned on the phone with some mem. card in, it gave me the multi-colored screen again. As soon as I took it out, it came on right away.

seems like the memory card may be corrupt if you can run it well without memory card

It's not my mem. card, it's my friend's. I'm thinking about ordering a 8GB MicroSD off eBay. Yeah, but besides that, everything works great. Thanks a lot for all your help, responses and support. 1: i think max is 4G mem card.
2: What was your prior firmware and which network are you using the phone on.


im on AT&T and not sure if the ferrari firmware will work with my phone.

@ATLSNiP3R some sites says that z8 support 32Gb TF ... well i m not sure ... i m using scandisk 4Gb TF, and i have no problem at all

@dankif not sure if Ferrari works don't know the firmwares on Z8 if we have sticky one and we cannot downgrade ...:D

The Z8 is definitely compatible with 32GB MicroSDHC sticks, when they are released. The interview on YouTube with one of the sales manager from Motorola said that it IS implemented. Just go on YouTube and type in Z8 interview. I'm using this phone with AT&T and I'm using the Ferrari firmware, even though this same problem was occurring with the firmware I had before this.

Ask away, I have no problems answering others' questions when you guys helped me.

1) I'm not too sure on what firmware I was using, I just wanted to get one that would actually help me. I think it was the Sept. 07 firmware.

2) Nope, I don't think there is a way to back-up your original.

3) Actually, I found a site that told me the MMS and Internet settings for AT&T service providers, he said the A1200 or one of those Motorola's had very similar settings and therefore worked on his Z8 perfectly. Just Google Z8 MMS settings, hopefully you'll get lucky.

4) Sure, the Ferrari firmware is nice, it changes your font your start-up animation and your shut off animation. You also get extra tones from the Ferrari Enzo car.

thanks for the info, was really hoping for your orig. S/W to compare to mine, its cool though. and it sux, i wont be able to mod until i can backup first, so we play the waiting game. i did look for the MMS settings on google and found similar entries but they didnt work. im calling AT&T tomorrow.

i guess ill see what patrix comes up with.

im about to flash my Z8...ive got rsd lite 4.1 and the latest firmware i think 2312 build off here... one question has anyone been successful in trying to install a new firmware with vista? please reply very soon..thanks

your memory card problem..did you flash the phone whilst the memory card was in?

cos i think you shoudlve taken it out to make sure it doesnt affect the memory card software for it..just a guess trying it now..will tell the verdict

you need rsd-lite version 4.1 [google for it because it's considered warez]
