I noticed that everytime my battery drained out really quickly..

It turns out I had an MMS in my outbox that the phone tried to send out every 10 minutes and for some reason it failed. Under normal circumstances, my battery lasts about 2 days under moderate use, less than 2 days if I use the camera a lot or talk a lot.

huh... MMS setup needs tweeking so the msg actually goes into the sent items. that explains alot as it'll keep sending the message and drains the battery. one other thing i noticed, when the battery gets to the low point, you really dont have much flexability like the v3xx. that thing would beep at me like 50 times before actually shutting off. this thing goes dead and DENIES BOOT! LOL

I found two problems with my Z8. First the phone does not turn off applications when you exit them. The only way is to turn your phone off and on again. You need to download the " Swiss Manager" from the internet, the free version works just fine to shut down running apps without turning off your phone. The second is I bought my phone new on Ebay and it came with a BC-50 battery that works fine for a Z3 but is not the correct battery for the Z8. The correct battery is the BK-70.
The BC-50 is 700Mah. and the BK-70 is 1100 Mah. I went from one day with normal talking time to about three between charging. I hope this helps anyone that might have the same problem as I did.

Damn, that's shitty that you got the wrong battery with your Z8. That seller is rotten, IMO.

As for applications, that's the thing - it was supposed to be a selling point of the Z8, that applications could stay in memory (therefore not exited) and be relaunched so quickly it'd make the whole experience better. Until you run out of memory, I suppose. Maybe they didn't expect people to run more than 3 apps before rebooting their phone? Thank god for Swiss Manager that can actually exit the applications.

One other thing. When the battery was depleted all the way the phone couldn't start to charge the battery. The screen would flash different colors and seemed the phone was bad. It was only the battery and $10.00 later with an external battery charger from China, you can find on the net, the phone was back in business. The charger will charge any battery and works quit well. I see other people that had the same problem and sent the phone back for repair. It's not the phone only the battery. The phone has to boot-up before it can charge the battery and with a dead battery it can't boot and charge the phone....kind of a catch 22. Since the new batteries have a chip inside that prevents overcharging you can keep one in the charger and just swap them out when the other one gets low. Living on the ocean we get a lot of company on weekends and it is nice to have the external charger for friends who forgot to bring a charger with them. I found original moto batteries on ebay for $5.00 with shipping Motorola wants $47.00 on their site.
Happy Modding.......JAY
