Sorry for the newb question but what is the difference between a skin and a wallpaper?

I believe a skin is wallpaper, buttons, icons, fonts, screensaver and music tones and wallpaper is the picture on your screen only.

What you mentioned is a Theme. A skin would include: frame colors (actually images) and a wallpaper. A wallpaper is just a background image. Some sofisticated skins require a special menu (mma_ucp file).
