Problems with Rizr Z8

well ive had the phone for under a month and absolutely love it..

ive managed to bypass some problems faced until now when i need them and its not there...

problems consist of:

1) when choosing the option to have the light always on, it doesnt do it and just shows the light before i take the picture (which is also the other option which i dont get)

2) just found that that it doesnt let me send music or videos through bluetooth..is dat on all models?

3)music only plays one song and not all of them when using a playlist..

4) shows a blue or green screen sometimes when say saving a contact or may just suddenly restart itself (maybe cant cope with programs or quick movement) this only happens once in awhile..

5) camera indicator when in use on the back doesnt show..

6) wont find a service for call waiting so i cant activate it.

how do i fix these? :confused:

and need help in trying to download a theme..what do i need to do?...sorry im new to it..

and if you download a MP and the screenshot is in a dif language..can u change it?

hi there! Welcome to the world of Z8 and all its bugs ;) Thankfully MANY of them are fixed in newer firmwares..

That's normal. It sure saves battery. This means you can't use the light as a flashlight, but it's there when you need it for the pic.

Weird, I haven't tried in a while, but I'm sure it works!

Old firmware. You have to, on the playlist screen, press "options" and then "play" to play the whole thing. Fixed in newer firmwares, now the only place where it will play only one track is when you go in "Tracks". Rest behaves normally.

Blue/green screen of death? Rebooting is what's happening anyway.. Probably a bug, not sure if it's still there in newer firmware.



5) camera indicator when in use on the back doesnt show..


Only shows when videorecording..


6) wont find a service for call waiting so i cant activate it.


Are you in the US? Call divert works for me in the UK...


and need help in trying to download a theme..what do i need to do? i heard about flashing wit rs.lite or summin...sorry im new to it..

You can send themes directly through bluetooth, or transfer them on the memory card and find it in the file manager, then install it.. No need for flashing for themes.



and if you download a MP and the screenshot is in a dif language..can u change it?


Yes, I flashed the German firmware, the most recent, and it asked me for language at the start. The question was in Deutsch, but it was pretty obvious what the phone expected of me ;)

hi...im guessin most of these bugs are addressed in the newer firmware? do u knoe what one it is and where to download? because when i tried to check for it it said i had the newest firmware..

uploaded loads of themes and looks great! cameraa indicator is there when video recording..im in UK but call waitin doesnt work..is it because O2 has stopped the service since they launched that automatic sms alert when u missed a call? im not confident with trying to flash the phone because basically i have no idea in whats needed and how to go about it..so i dont knoe if i wud b able to change to newest firmware

There's a list of them on this very forum, but I'm trying to clarify which ones they are exactly, as only the ESPOO version number isn't enough to differentiate them ;)

To find out your version, you can press "Home", then "options" and "info" I believe (my Z8 is charging and I'm too lazy to check) and it tells you all the info. You can copy it on here and I can look it over, tell you if you've got the latest or not ;)

Oh I see, call waiting isn't the same as call divert. I have no trouble enabling call waiting, so I'm not sure why you have trouble. Maybe it's not enabled on your account. Are you on pay monthly or pay as you go? Sometimes phone operators like tricking customers by offering diff features to diff categories...

Yes the first time you flash a phone is horrid, tense, and then.. when it works.. really exciting lol. I suggest to read around a bit, familiarize yourself with the terms, etc, familiarize yourself with the software (you can install and connect your phone with it without doing anything that will damage your phone), make sure your phone's recognized, etc, before proceeding.

Best to proceed with caution, and with understanding what you're doing, than go in blindly.. Even though at one point, if you really wanna flash, you gotta blindly go for it lol. What I did, first time the flash failed cuz I moved the phone and I think the cable got slightly disconnected, but then I tried again and everything went smoothly.

So start by looking at the version numbers, finding the right firmware, reading, etc :)

i got some other theme in http://motomodding.us

ive upgraded the firmware and most problems are fixed..:D

doesnt freeze

loads quicker

plays all songs in playlist

i found out how to send bluetooth music files hehe my mistake..so all good..just want to do album art to make it better..

also..i cant activate 3G how do i do it? im on O2 and doesnt give choice to do video call..
would like to know how to do this


no call waiting (will speak to network provider)

would say thread closed but 2 more problems..

1) how do you add album art to the song when its playing?

2) when connecting to pc doesnt let me choose mass storage or pc connect..just stays on modem..

any solutions?

2nd problem solved..just a simple restart after firmware flash..all good..but 1st problem..i want to add the album art but how do i do that?

control panel -> networks -> network settings -> band: auto. This should default to GSM in gsm-only areas, and 3G in areas covered by 3G.

And drain your battery a tad bit faster ;) Cool of O2 to include video call minutes in the monthly allowance of minutes. Makes video call actually manageable. though I never use it anyway.

hehe yeah..thing was i went into O2 shop today and they said my sim card needed replacing since i had it for like 4 years..this was a 3G sim and yeah mine was always on auto..so yeah it gives the option naw..hehe

but yeah thanks..would be handy wen need to talk to staff or business outside in da future..:P

Ah yeah I actually thought that you might have a non-3G SIM card, but discounted the idea since O2/Virgin/etc seem to always give 3G sim cards nowadays, only Orange seems to give me normal SIM.

Didn't think you might have had a really old card. Good that your problem's been fixed :)
