How to unlock your phone

After this phone screwed with my brains for a few weeks, I found a radical way to unlock it: I called my provider and asked him for the code, because "I'm going to Europe for the summer", as I have told them.
And Cingular (dunno about tmobile) gave it to me just like that.

Yeah, that is the best option so far. T-Mobile seems more willing, but its nice to hear that Cingular/ AT&T also does.

I just called ATT and told the CS that I was going on a biz trip to Europe within the next week. Before she gave ne an unlock Subsidy # she 3-way tranferred me to International LD dept. who told me that I MUST have Int'l roaming added to my plan to do this, but there would be absoutely no charge whatsoever. So I reluctantly agreed.

I was told that I need a different carrier SIM which I do not have, so I called ATT back and told them that I wish there was a way I could unlock my phone before I left stateside lest I find myself overseas with a dead phone. The CS seemed puzzled and asked for my IMEI and said "your phone is already unlocked". Hmmm.

I will be calling ATT Mon morning to have them remove the stupid Int'l Roaming garbage ASAP.
