I purchased a Z9 and Motorola Phone Tools 5. When I plug my phone to my computer with a USB cable, it says unsupported phone detected. Has anyone else had this problem. Please help me, I have contacted Motorola with no luck!!!

I have a refurbished z9 from at&t and have the same problem. I have downloaded
the necessary USB patches and set the phone to "data connection".
Phone still not recognized in Phone Tools. Can't seem to get P2k to work.
I have no idea what I'm doing.

I tried and tried MPT 5. Eventually was able to get my pictures and videos off the phone but mpt crashed whenever I tried to mess with audio. So I gave up on it.
I use MOBILedit! (http://www.mobiledit.com/) instead and it works flawlessly.

Got mobile edit (download for free)and had no problems after that.
Thanks for the advice!! What I don't understand is that
it looks like MPT 5 is what is supposed to ship with the
USB cable that comes with the z9?

It does this with EVERY V3M i've connected, It gives me Phone Not Supported just like the rest of you have been getting. Its a problem with their software, i've tried over 5 different cables and NONE make any difference. It has to be the software, so glad i paid for it :(

****UPDATE****
If you (at least the V3M) have a memory card in the phone, take it out and MPT 5 will be able to read the phone, not sure if this will work or is even the problem with any other phones having this problem.

I just wanted to double check that you were able to get the Motorola Moto Z9 to synch with Microsoft Outlook contacts using MobileEdit!. I really want to buy this phone but I have a large of contacts I need for work. Thaks!

I know this is a little behind but removing the memory card worked to copy contacts and calendar from outlook to my z9

I wonder what the issue is? Do you have all of the drivers installed properly? I don't have any problem with MPT 5, and was able to set up the profile manually and get it to work with 4.9 also. (Running on Vista Ultimate)

I have had the same problem and decided to try MobilEdit v2.8 and am having problems with this program as well with my Z9.
It doesn't detect my device with the USB set at Data Connection. I tried to download the USD drivers from Motorola.com but do not know what to do with the msi file that was downloaded.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The msi file should be a Windows Installer File. Just clicking on it Should start the installation of the needed USB drivers, kind of like a .exe file, self extracting self installing.

Update: the reason I couldn't open the zip file the msi was in is because my laptop crashed and I am in the process of re-installing my programs and hadn't re-installed Winzip and Winrar. Once I did this and installed the updated drivers I have been able to use MPT 5.0 with no problem but it does take awhile to load.
I also use MobileEdit as it has some features MPT does not have (or I haven't figured out yet) such as installing games/apps. One problem I do encounter with MobileEdit is periodically my Z9 with go offline. Unless I disconnect it and reconnect the USB cable it won't recognize the phone by re-trying the connection. It's a small hassle I can deal with. MPT has froze on me several times so I just closed the program and open it again and am good-to-go.

I just downloaded mobiledit 2.99.018 and it doesn't even detect my Z9. I can't use MPT 5.0 and now this doesn't work. I hate to think that downloading ringtones for 2,49 from AT & T will only work

I just got my Z9 (upgrade from SLVR L7) and MPT wouldnt detect it correctly. I manually triggered the update for MPT to check if anything was availible, and one small patch was. After I got latest MPT detected and connected to my Z9 without issue.
