I am pretty excited to report that I managed to get my Z9 to work with Skype. It means international calls are possible at the cost of local minutes. The Java app is called Nimbuzz.
How to ? Well that's another story. One has to go through many hurdles (warning, it takes time !)
1) Obtaining a MOTODEV developer certificate (look for Skrilax' guide: http://modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188681)
2) Know which JSR's are required (the JAVA permissions relevant for the app)
3) Know how to sign and load the app onto the phone. Trial and error mostly.
Nimbuzz works with the standard JSR set (HTTP, socket, file r/w), plus PIM file read/write
When it's successfully loaded, the rest is easy. Register with the Ninbuzz server, select your preferred IM service (all common ones supported) and link up. Done. Skye away. Best of all, it's a free service.
And, oh yes, I also have Internet radio enabled using another free program call Radio Bee. Need dance club tunes from Khzakstan or public radio (KQED) from San Francisco ? It's all there. Same selection as the list of streaming radio station in Winamp and iTunes. Who needs FM ?
Many thanks to Skrilax (again). I am beginning to like my Z9.....
