DVD to E6?

What's the process for putting a dvd on the phone? I'm sure you have to rip it, convert it, and make it a lot smaller, but can anybody explain actually how to do it? And what programs and such. (to just rip and copy to my computer, I use DVDShrink, works great!) I'd be great if I could make the movies take up less than a gig too...

Or on a Mac I use Handbrake and then ffmpegx.
