I recently bought a Verizon Wireless V3m, and I thought I'd use BitPIM to start modding it. I'm on a Mac, running Mac OS X v. 10.4.8, and my cell phone's software versiuon is 01.05.0A. When I connected my cell to my Mac via mini USB, BitPIM identified my phone as an LG VX4400. When I manually changed that to the Motorola RAZR V3c & clicked 'auto-detect'...nothing happened and an error message popped up, saying I had incorrectly disconnected my cell phone from my computer, even though it was still attached. Help! I'd like to do some seem editing & other mods, but I can't even get past step one.

Thank you.

Oh wow.. you're in the worst situation, ha. Mac modding is still a newer frontier, and Verizon software is the most crippled and toughest to connect. :/ Your best bet is to use Windows, unfortunately, for now.

I haven't used BitPim in OS X yet, and don't have access to a CDMA Razr, although I am in OS X.

You cannot use BitPim to mod your v3m. You can use BitPim to back up files and folders, and delete files and folders. But that's it.

You cannot use BitPim to create folders that the phone recognizes because it does not set the attributes correctly for the phone's firmware. Same goes for trying to add wallpapers and ringtones - it will not work - trust me on this - so don't even try. Otherwise you will wind up with a very expensive brick on your hands.

Seem editing and flashing are impossible on a Mac with a Verizon v3m CDMA phone unless you install Virtual PC (as my step-by-step guide shows).

The modding of v3 phones on this forum refer to owners who have the v3 GSM Razr or v3c/v3m phones other than using Verizon as a carrier.

In BitPim, if you want to try it, change your settings to v3cm and it should work.

I think I'll just stick with my 'stock' V3m. My thanks to you and poetic_folly.

I have a v3cm from verizon. I have also downloaded bitpim. funny, it will not recognize my phone at all. I suppose that the program is useless with the v3cm I currently have? any advice on the issue would be greatly appreciated

That's quite possible. Have you tried p2k commander? IMHO it's a better program. It also seems to work with many more phones

It appears that P2KCommander's a Windows/non-Mac/ .exe application...useless to me, since I'm running OS X v. 10.4.8.

I quoted DarkMatters post so nobody would get confused as to whom I was replying

True. However, judging from his reply to my post, I surmised we were in a similar position, that of not knowing of any Mac program with which to do seem edits and other mods on our Verizon RAZR's. My error.

Oh ok I think you're right for some reason I assumed he had a PC, I need some sleep
