I am getting this message when I try to first flash my v3m that I have.
Phone Failed initial security verification checks. HAB error
I am able ot use the motorola tools to connect and back up the unit. . . I have RSD lite 2.7 installed and the UID Extraction tool. the UID can see the device and get the info from it, but when I go to RSD lite 2.7, load my image I want, and click start, it goes through the image creation, then fails and says the above error.
Please let me know what I might be missing to get this phone started and modded. do I need to call verizon to get it unlocked, and if so, where do I enter this unlock code in the phone?

No this has nothing to do with the phone being locked or unlocked.
Have you tried using a different version of RSD Lite? Or perhaps with PST?

Wow, when you first mentioned this in another thread I assumed you were going by the guide on this site:
http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/cdma/flashflex.php
you may have more luck with it. Also are you absolutely sure what you're trying to flash is for the V3m?

Yah... V3m is wayyyyyy different than the V3! You need to be following the CDMAM guides!

I am not sure I am using the correct flash version. I got it from a set of instructions that I found via a link on this forum.
I will see if I can track down another flash version and go from there. . . if that does not work I might trygetting a different RSD version. . .

I checked out the link that was posted for hte mod of the V3c, but you mentioned that I had to follow the CDMAM guides. where is this guide located as i want to make sure I do not hose this up or waste anyones time with questions that will be answered if I was to have the correct instructions for the phone.

When he said CDMAM it was a typo, he meant CDMA and was referring to the guides here:
http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/cdma/
the flashing guide is here:

If you use the flash file mentioned in the guide, it will make your phone usable, but it won't even know your MicroSD card is there, you lose any and every ability to use it. There are no V3m flash files currently hosted on this site from what I could see

If your phone is working ok you probably shouldn't flash it...I found this info on another reputable site:
I don't like the Verizon UI on my V3C or V3M, how do I get the Motorola one back?
The only way to do this is to flash your phone with the firmware from another Wireless Carrier (like Alltel)... which will cost you verizon's support, potentially void your warranty, and you will have extra work getting the Verizon specific features (messaging, mobile web, vcast, get-it-now, etc) working again... In the case of the V3M, there is no other V3M firmware, and the V3C's firmware does NOT support the Transflash slot, VCast Music, Verizon Music player... and there is no LEAKED V3M firmware file to flash back! In other words, flash your V3M with V3C firmware, and you've turned your V3M hardware into a V3C phone...
Can I flash my V3M with V3C firmware?
While the phone will function, the V3C's firmware does NOT support the Transflash slot, VCast Music, Verizon Music player, MTP Device mode Sync with Windows Media Player, etc... and there is no LEAKED V3M firmware file to flash back! In other words, flash your V3M with V3C firmware, and you've turned your V3M hardware into a V3C phone...

I found another posting for a firmware for the v3m. Will this firmware still allow me to use the microSD slot? I am ot to worried about all the vxast crap as that is just another way to try to make me use their services and pay for it. . . I currenlty only want to change my icons, look and feel and put new ring tones on this device. . . do not want to pay for their crap. . .

Can you give me a link to it? If it's really a V3m firmware, then it should work fine. If you'll give me the link I might be able to tell you more
