My fonts dont work :o

Hi :)
I tried to make a font but it didnt work.
On the instructions it says:
"1. Open SHXCodec and split any stock v3 Language Pack."
But does the lp have to be from the same software version as is on the phone ?
I tried a few times with different fonts but the lp I was using was from a different sw version, am wondering if that why I cant get it to work... I did try flashing another hacked lp made by someone else and that worked.
My phone is a v3.

OK Ive sorted it, I thin the problem was in moto font editor when it asks "Save Symbol?" and I always clicked 'yes', but I read in another thread to click 'no' and it my font works now :)
