I've flashed and flexed my old V3 several times until I got it just the way I liked it two years ago, and it got wet this week. In the course of taking it apart to dry, I tore the ribbon from the keymat to the display, so only the motherboard is accessible once it's all dry.

I've only recently gotten the mobo out of the oven, and trying to decide on what to do. I need the phone numbers off the phone. Can I power it up without the display or keypad by firing up MPT and powering it on from there, or do I need to connect the mobo to a known-good phone in order to boot up long enough to download phone numbers?

even without the display if it powers up and boots properly you should be able to use mpt to get your contacts... or just get a new ribbon cable...

Put it together as normal, power up, if it connect to MPT everything should be there if the motherboards not damaged. The part of the flex cable you cut is for the display, side keys and camera. It would have been a good idea to replace the flex anyhow as they can be damaged when wet.
