metro flash does not flash firmware of phones just updates mip/prl/eri thats it so if its not metro youll still have to take it in to the store

O.k i have a question though, what would i have to do to make the phone operable on the metropcs network, would an MSL code be useful in this situation or would i have to Manually edit the phones name or even clone a different phones ESN?

firmware is on page one of this sticky you have to find rsd general and rsd lite (no warez aloud) back up your nam with rsd general then with rsd lite use the monster pack flash to metro after flashing reload your nam and your good to go

The instinct is nice and all but to be honest it cant be done.... My self and a few guys on howard forums have been trying but its almost impossible. Sprints ui makes it tougher than normal... Also ive noticed alot of people straying away from the instinct for motos and lgs, because of the ability to use the web..... My self i am currently on the lookout for a lg glimmer if anyone has one or knows of one just laying around give me a heads up ill be more than happy to take it

I'll be needing to setup two Sprint Moto V3m Razr phones on MetroPCS in the next few days and was wondering if anyone has a procedure to follow that will ensure proper flashing and activation on Metro with Talk/Text/MMS/and Internet.

I've already got the V3M Monster file for MetroPCS but I'm worried that there might be other things required to accomplish my goal. I'm very computer literate but a newb when it comes to cell phone flashing.

Didn't you say something about flashing to Alltel first then Metro? The only monster I found for Alltel has a caution stating that if flashing from Metro you must first back up PRI and other things. I have no idea how to do that.

Also - once I flash it, will I still have to take it to a Metro store for them to flash it too or will I be able to activate it over the phone and have Talk/Text/MMS/Internet?

I just tried to load the Metro PCS monster on the Sprint V3M we discussed last week and it failed. The phone seems to be frozen with some vertical lines onthe screen. What happened?

Powered the phone off by removing the battery and repowered. Got a motorola logo, no signal, no carrier specific info, and now it doesn't seem to go into bootloader mode..... Is this what it means to BRICK your phone?

sprints tricky like that thats why i said flash it to alltel first and if you cant force the phone into bootloader leave the battery out for awhile and let it sit then try it again or try running the battery down and letting it charge then try again

Yeah. But as I said in one of my previous posts the only Alltel monster I found stated that you shouldn't use it with Sprint phones because of the risk of losing some settings.

I was able to get the phone into bootloader using the * + # method and I flashed with the DST version of the V3m monster and then flashed with Metro and it seems to be working. The only thing I can't figure out is why the speakerphone is not available.

What is the PRL for anyway?

was the phone in perfect working order before you tried to flash it? that sounds like a phsyical problem with the flex cable (moisture damage?) check the phone for even the slightest bit of moisture damage.

Yea evil ... definitely been following your posts for a few days, good work man. I own a L7c slvr flashed by metro then flashed by myself to your metro mp to unlock the web and pic msging. Well apparently my backups didnt save and now i am left with a phone that will recognize the metro network, actually call people and say connected... but doesnt ever really call them as they always return saying they didnt recieve one... actually, after talking with metro and reading some more.... I realize metro DOES have my esn on the network however i believe it was flashed when i flashed it with the metro mp (without backups btw)... i need to restore my NAM and/or restore my ESN.... havent found a way to do that yet as RSD General is saying i dont have one lol... help...please...

nm i changed min in nam1 with the code 74663# clear clear (press somewhat Fast) and was able to do it there despite the *0SETUP# bs lol.... ty anyway

dont take it and pay 150 for some crack to change settings that you yourself can change.. but after looking over houdini's website and seeing that the Moto V950 is supported... just change your spc code to all zeros and load metros current prl then take it in and have it reflashed that will at least get you talk and text and on to metro

Wanted to thank you again for your help getting my V3M Flashed to Metro. Was wondering if you could shed light on another issue I'm having. For some reason, Metro phones (I've tested with a Nokia, a V3c, V3M, and a V323i) don't allow Palm handhelds to dial phone numbers via bluetooth. This is a very useful feature for me currently and I was hoping there was some setting on the Metro software that could be changed to accomplish this. Any ideas? Hey Evil been reading this topic and figured you were the best person to ask. I bought a rzr v3r for my wife from ebay, it is unlocked and I figured with it being unlocked you could just take it to any carrier and connect it. Well after reading around I was completely wrong!

I have read a few people trying this method and have been unsucessful, so i tried myself with no luck.... I tried Radio comm and it wouldnt even connect to the phone? trying the ic / razr method.. 0055 / r 1 / lenghth 0006 . No luck.... is there some extra chipset or other settings that need to be changed...

what software did you use? or did you dump the rom? what method are you using or do you have a thread to read? Ive been searching for days...

Just wanted to clarify something.

I have a Moto v9m that has already been flashed to metro pcs.

In order to enable WAP and MMS, do I still have to install the Generic Monster Pack? Or is that only if I want to flash to Metro?

I've tried to just edit the web settings in the ##DATA menu and that doesn't seem to do anything.

One other note. The phone has never been activated with Sprint. It was purchased brand new.

Any help would be appreciated Evil.

I bought a V3M that was a Verizon phone and had the Phone Flashed at Metro PCS. I can make calls and text people but I can't use the internet or any other MetroPCS "features". How do I set up the features on this phone? All of the menu options are still set up for Verizon too.. I saw the "monster" download but I really don't know that if by flashing it will I still be able to connect to the Metro network or will I have to have them re-flash it or if there is anyway I can back up the current Metro Flash settings, flash it with monster and then restore the Metro settings.. If anyone could HELP I really appreciate it..

It STILL has the Verizon firware on it so I can only use voice & text messaging. They said that I can't use web and Metro Connect because it has Verizon firmware on it and they can't put Metro PCS firmware on it. From what I've been reading on the forums I see that I can flash Metro firmware on the phone(V3M) myself but by doing that will it clear the "settings" that they "Metro Flashed" onto the phone so I can connect to the MetroPCS network and make calls & send texts. :confused:

I guess I'm going to use "Flash & Backup" to do it but what phone model do I select under "Active Phone Profile" because it doesn't have V3M(Razor) as an option.
Also for some reason the program says "Phone Not Connected" at the bottom left even though I have the phone plugged in and the PC recognized the phone. I believe I have the correct drivers installed, I used the "Motorola Driver Installer.exe" program and it still says "Phone Not Connected". I am not a newbie but man this is making me feel like one,:( that's for sure! Flashing my PSP was SO MUCH EASIER!

Well I got PST & I'm going to try and flash it with the Metro V3M monster pack you uploaded and then I'm gonna try and use the Metro WAP settings that you posted and hopefully everything will work.

just remember what you are doing. you are completely removing the verizon software from the phone and replacing it with the metro software. at that point there will be no need to change or modify any mms or web settings. REMEMBER TO WRITE DOWN YOUR MIN AND YOUR MDN PHONE NUMBERS BEFORE YOU FLASH IT! then manually "reprogram" your phone numbers (min and mdn) back in the phone. your phone should work perfect and no need to call metro for anything.

:thumbsup:Worked beautifully! I'm just having problems with the internet working on a regular basis. It keeps saying "Network Connection Lost", "Network Unavailable, Retry Later" or "Unable To Resolve Host" :furious:??? Besides that little bit of tweaking that needs to be done it was pretty easy after I got the computer to use the correct drivers & I did that just by right clicking on the ones that came with PST and selecting install. Thanks for your help! This is one friendly, helpful and KICK ASS forum that I won't be leaving anytime soon!

thats an issue with the network not your phone but your better off than most some dont even have web just talk and text... or like me web/pic/everything on an htc touch

one thing you may want to check is to see if your "home sid" is correct. when you programmed the min and mdn into the phone you should have a option to change the home sid. call your carrier to be sure what that number is and be sure the phone reads the same number. that might help your problem.

firmware wont matter for aws.. what you need is a prl even then the phone your trying to put it on probably wont work it must be a tri-band cdma phone and the majority are dual banded... and depending on what market your in ie louisiana, las vegas, boston, new york (up coming) you can not flash a phone those markets are aws only....

I have a Razr V3a and have been looking over the thread for a couple of days soaking up all the mod info.

The phone is currently using MetroPCS service

When I try the *# power button to see the bootloader screen I get a nice moto graphic screen with the following at the bottom

"BOOTLOADER USB INIT"

Is there another way to get the BootLoader info?

try holding down the left and right soft keys with one hand then use the other hand to power (red hang up button) on the phone; you should get the screen you are looking for.:thumbsup:

I got DSLite to connect to the phone.

i have personally reflashed many phone with only the bootloader screen. sometimes rsd lite will show no esn for the phone; thats ok. it will still flash correctly. when its done it will then show the correct esn and info. p.s. i am not sure what provider your phone came from but you may want to try to first flash it as a verizon then once that is done reconnect it to rsd lite and then flash it again to metro's monster. dont ask me why it works this way it just does. :thumbsup:hopefully this will help you.

i tried flashing my v3s with v3a firmware...i know it may brick it but i really dont care about the phone. As soon as i connect the phone to the pc it reboots no matter WHAT program i use. Im assuming its the boot loader. I mean even MSU cant connect. I have tried RSD lite, RSD CDMA general 5.1.8, and QPST and got nothing. Even if i got the firmware I was looking for I dont think it would work. What a pain n the arse! I miss my v3c :(

The RSDLite shows the ESN but, no bootloader information and when I try to get the Bootloader screen all I get is the "BootLoader USB Init" on the screen and no version information.

I've tried the same procedure on another V3a from an Alltel provider and I get the same thing?

It's my understanding you have to know the BL version to verify it matches the MSP that you want to apply? Did I misunderstand the instructions?

The phone provider was MetroPCS and it's current active and working. I just wanted to be able to access the internet and download apps from wap.GetJar.com

I can download the apps. But, metro has me locked out so I can't install them.

It was my understand that flashing the MSP would resolve this issue.

Ok I've tested this phone with every program I have in my arsenal and have had NO luck. I don't even have to have a program open. All I have to do is plug the phone to the usb cable and it resets and will not reboot till I disconnect. It has to have something to do with the bootloader but I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions at all would be helpfull

Ok evil my friend i got one for you! The newer v3m (from verizon) have the newer esns (meid: A000000######). So the old metro v3m software flash crashes the phone. Any ways around this? Or does it make these models unflashable to metro software? Thanks in advance.

you need three things: 1st= motorola usb drivers (found on this site), the moto program callled RSD Lite (found on this site) and a V3m monster file (.shx file) for metro. (found on this site). install the usb drivers first, then install RSD lite. run RSD lite then plug your phone (by usb) into the computer. (verify that it is actually a V3M (it will show this in the program) choose the monster file you just downloaded. and flash it. rememember to to back up your info and phone number (when it completes all your info will be erased!). reprogram your number and phonebook back into the phone. your done!:ok:

sounds like you need the samsung drivers... and if your gonna flash it to metro it would be easier to flash with houdini, then find samsung pst or samsung pst lite, the u520 dll and manually program in your mms and web settings.

what carrier are you trying to "flash" to? if you are trying to flash it to metro or cricket your local metro dealer can do that for you. but you would be limited on the picture messaging and web cap. of the phone. you can use this forum to find the settings to access the web but probibly no luck on the picture messaging. :angry:

you can not flash a phone in the nyc area because nyc is aws only this means you need a triband radio chip and most phones are dual band phones thus the reason they do not flash in the nyc.

Does anyone know the actual reason that Metro does not allow the Motorola Q9m Q9c's etc. on their network? I have heard that it has something to do with Windows Mobile OS. But, I want the real reason. It would appear that this unconscionable act on their part is unethical and illegal, though of this, am not sure. Contracts are not always bound by ethics and are when legal, stand secure from the Constitution and are above the law. For myself I am comfortable with Q9m on any network by any means that one can afford. I don't care whether they think my radio is a Nokia 6265i as long as my Q9m works and performs as I want it to, and more importantly does no harm. I want a radio that I control.
