View Full Version : Question about modding possibilities

I recently bought my Razr v3, and I don't like the fact that it only holds approx. 100 combined inbox/outbox SMS messages. My question is, is it possible by modding to actually change the capacity that you can store by letting it use free space from somewhere else? I am pretty sure my phone is storing to my phone instead of sim card already, but i would like to be able to store more than 100 messages. I don't want to get into modding unless it is possible to even change it. I have been reading reviews and some people have said their phone is holding like 300+ or is that totally wrong? Any info would be great, besides this problem I pretty much like my razr so this is the big issue for me.

angelz19,
First off, Welcome to modmymoto.
Second, There plenty more reasons to get into modding! I think the V3 has only 100 max. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure thats the case.
Start modding your phone and you'll be hooked and doing all of these things in no time!

Thanks for the welcome! So there is no way to expand the capacity past 100? I was thinking of trying modding, but that could be dangerous for me to get into, might get to be a new obsession :)

I fully recommend getting into it.
Here is a place to get started.
Modding the V3 Razr. (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/)

Also, is this normal of all motorola phones? It's just weird to me, i just transfered from Sprint to Cingular and my old sprint phone was able to store 200 inbox 180 outbox and it was a lousy old phone. I never even thought that the newer phones would not be able to hold so much. But if its just this version of the Razr or just Razr's in general I can still trade phones if theres no way to fix this :( Again, any info would be appreciated !

I'm pretty sure that how most of these motos are. But do you really need to hold that many sms at a time? Thats alot! I wouldn't trade mine in for anything.

If it was like 100 inbox and 50 outbox that would even be cool I dunno, i just used to save texts a lot so i guess i just expected with a new phone it would hold as much especially since i have tons of free space still (havent filled it up with ringtones and stuff yet)

@angelz Just my 2 cents:I agree with Apristel (he knows what he's talking about) You won't believe the differences/changes you can make to your Razr once you get started. I started doing mods back in like April I think after reading what I could do on motomodders. After the first couple of mods I was hooked. Now I have done everything I care to do (and have only screwed my phone up twice lol). Read the guides and check out all the options that are out there, fun lights, spreaker with the flip closed, free up memory, new DRM icons, skins, menus, etc. I have owned just about everything Samsung, Sony Ericcson, Nokia, etc. and used to go through phones every couple of months (drove my wife crazy) but since I got my Razr, when I get bored I just change some stuff around and it's like having a new phone. Plus your friends will be amazed that your Razr can do so many cool things that theirs can't. I wouldn't trade my Razr for anything and will probably go with moto from now on. You just can't do these things with other phones. Just my opinion. Read everything first, decide what you want to mod, read everything again, cross your fingers, and go for it. If you screw it up, no worries somebody else has already screwed it up before you and somebody else figured out how to fix it, just search...the answers are out there...K

All that is true guys, but he's asking about the SMS inbox. Yup, it IS annoying, and no, on the Razr there is NOT a way to change it. My V3x holds about 625 messages which I love.

yeah the way to maximize the SMS on the razr is to have them stored to the phone, which is what you have, so you cant get any more (to my knowledge, and agreeing with everyone above). My razr hold about 105? some where around there at least, but no more

If you have messages you want to store I think you can store them on your pc via MPT, maybe :-)
