Hi, I'm new. My wife just got a v3m, and I would like to be able to upload/download MP3s, ringtones, adress books, and images to her phone with Motorola Phone Tools. Our provider is Verizon and I suspect they've blocked some or all of these cpaabilities. Can someone tell me how to mod the phone so that it is fully accesible by MPT or point me to a link with the appropriate information? Thanks!

I use metroPCS and they do the same thing. If you have internet WAP access through your phone you can use upload sites, such as http://www.wapdj.com/, that let you upload ringtones and wallpaper from your computer to download to your phone. This was the easiest way for me until I understood how to use a USB link to my phone.

If you still want to use MPT do the following seem edit:
seem 2742 Offset 6A Bit 0 check to enable
Then MPT should recognize your phone. If not then do this:
Seem 2827, Record 1, Bytes (h) 22, Offset 0006 check the boxes for bits 0-2-3-6 and uncheck the boxes for Bits 1-4-5-7
If you're not sure about how to do seem edits, check out the guide for it:

So if I flash my phone (Verizon V3m) back up to 1.0.9 and do the 2 seem edits, I can do all the multimedia stuff as a V3m instead of an E815m?
Lately, every time I try uploading an MP3 to my phone, it says the phone drops the connection (USB and MPT 3.25b)?
Currently: V3m , 1.0.2, set in MPT 3.25b as an E815m with appropriate seem edits in place (it did upload an MP3 once when I first seem editted, but has since just been seen in MPT until I try uploading).:wtf:

I would try doing the live update on MPT some more first. I had to set my V3c as an E815 till version 4 or so.

I have a V3M from Sprint, and the MPT applications works just fine!
Chances are you haven't upgraded the MPT software to its latest version. You will need to perform an "upgrade" about 5 to 6 different times until your final upgrade prompts you with "you have the latest upgrades available" (or something similar).
Once you have upgraded, manually select your phone model number, and MAKE SURE to select V3MM, and not V3M or V3M-Sprint (Trust me!) From information I received from Motorola tech support, the "V3MM" stands for "V3M w/Media Tools." Once the software has recognized your phone, the Multi-Media icon will become available, and allow you add wallpapers, ringtones, etc.
Good luck and happy uploading!

Thanks, everyone! (esp Nevardeath) I'll try the seem edits and see if they work.

I'm having some difficulties. I loaded MPT and was able to copy my wife's phone book to the new phone. So far so good. Then I followed the instructions at http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/cdma/seemediting.php to try to do a seem edit. When I started the app, I got a series of 4 "unknown hardware" wizards. In each case I told them to find drivers that I donloaded from here: http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3055 This kind of looked like it worked - the status message on the bottom of the window switched from "not connected" to "connected" Then I typed "90" in the bytes window and "2742" in the Seem window and hit the Load from Phone button. At that point the app hangs. It just gets the hourglass for an indefinite time and does nothing. Can anybody tell what I'm doing wrong?
I tried uninstallig MPT before starting the seem editor, but it didn't work.

First make sure you're using the modified p2k seem. There's a regular version for GSM phones, then the modified version for CDMA phones. The CDMA version can be found here:
http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=1748
If that's not the problem, make sure PST is running before you open the p2k seem program. If it is and you're still having problems, then I've been told RSD Lite works better with the V3m. It's an alternative to PST. Use it instead of PST and see what happens
