Ive just noticed that mp3 read function is off in my slvr. i noticed when my friend sent me a ringtone and it diverted to a server in tmobile.

so my questions is how do i go about in turning this mode on? is it some kind of seem editing?

Thanks, Nade

and just because i like starwars :duel:

There is no way to do that. T-Mobile just does not allow you to receive mp3's via sms. I know that because my nephew put his T-Mobile SIM card in my phone and he could not receive a ringtone while i can when I put my SIM card from Cingular.

Nope, not yet. But you can play them in Digital Audio player or iTunes on the phone.

What format does the ringtones need to be in?

bit 7: Settings > Phone Status > Other Information > MP3 Ready (1 on, 0 off)

I believe that just shows the menu item in the phone status menu.

yes, it places the item into the menu and when i highlight it and select View it says Yes. so does that mean it is MP3 ready, or is it meaningless?

the only phone I've had that says NO is my former Cingular L7, which would work just like the R4513 that I have right now.
I think NadeKilla needs to call T-Mobile and ask them to allow him to receive sounds or mp3 files that his friends send him.
Hey NadeKilla, can you donload mp3 ringtones from T-Mobile 'web store'?

not recently with the l7. ive done it with my razr but then again that was mp3 ready. is it some kind of activation via browser message or something?

mmm... It has to do with T-Mobile. My friend has a 'clone' of my phone which says 'mp3 ready: yes' and he can't receive sound files either. We even tried with his sim card in my phone... T-Mobile network would just not let the message go through.
I enabled his phone to use the internet and the T-Zones site, by going to T-Mobile's Online Data Configurator (http://tmobileus.wdsglobal.com/phonefirst?contractId=235&countryId=37&networkId=90&bearerId=5&mobileNumber=&captchaEnabled=true&manufacturerId=18) so he could send text messages and access the internet. You can try...

If you use p2k and change the phone name to V360, or V3, it will trick the system into thinking you are using a supported device. Works every time ;)

Ah nice trick, forgot that.

but T-Mobile now also has the L7, why would we need to trick the system? Or, does T-Mobile allow V360 and V3 to send sounds but not the L7? Is that what you mean? May work... Trying is good.

my web sessions are from my razr and its the one that doesnt work with sending sound. i think its something with tmobile. they probably wants you to buy some kind of messaging extra or something

i put in keyword 'mp3' and it says no threads found.... go figure....

after an hour of searching threads, i found it

My phone says: mp3 ready: no

So I guess this is the reason I can't use a mp3 as my ringtone?

How do I change this?
:dunno:

Also, my mp3 sounds great, but phone calls sound like trash, do I fix this with the gain table? And which one do I use?

Thanks

i have no earthly idea..... i dont really use p2kae for anything, but i needed it a couple of days ago and it wouldnt work..... i think when it fixed itself last just by uninstalling and reinstalling a bunch of times..... i think it might have something to do with the fact that i install from D:\ onto C:\..... but i havent tested that theory yet....
