Hello,
I have an unlocked razr f/w r374.42.17r. I flashed the subsidy code reset to all zeroes a long time ago. I actually want to change my subsidy code to something else. Is there a way to do that? What I'm trying to do is, I locked my phone to MY SIM card (not just t-mobile sim card, but MY SIM card) using mstool, so that if someone steals my phone to put their sim card in it it wont work. well if ur ever asked for any type of code you dont know, first ur gonna try all zeroes. If they do that, they can use my phone without me knowin. So I want to change my subsidy code to a code that only I know

it may be possible but im not sure
But if someone steals your phone and its locked or unlocked
Isn't he still going to HAVE YOUR PHONE
Doesnt make much sense to me
If he see's its locked
Is he going to return saying
"Am, I stole your phone but it was locked so just returning it"

well if their sim card dosnt work then they have 2 options. use my sim card, and if they do i can just check the bill and see who hes callin and see where. or he can just not use my phone. If someone steals my phone, I dont want them to be able to use it.

yeah
but its highly unlikely they will be stupid enough to use your sim
and
if they can use it or not
you are still not getting it back
period

sorry for going on without answering your question
how did you lock your phone to your sim only??

It's impossible to do that all they have to do is unlock the phone again and bam no subsidy needed.

Well I just used mstool. Theres an option to lock it to the next SIM to be inserted into the phone. And I tried inserting another t-mobile SIM after locking it to my t-mobile SIM (to test it of course) and it asked for subsidy password.

Well not everyone knows how to unlock a phone. If they buy a subsidy code based on the IMEI, it will not work because I changed the code.
All I want is a solution here. Dont be like tech support and take forever, I just want an answer. I know you can with CDMA, theres even a guide on how to do it. For GSM I know its in a SEEM somewhere like all the other codes, I just dont know where. Ill do a little experimenting

It's impossible to do
if clarkey says its impossible
i dont think you will find a way
the seems are in the protected area of the pds
by looking at it you wont find it
because if it was that easy then we will unlock by this method

Im talkin about unlocking a phone, because if you can do this, your phone has to already be unlocked. Whoever the author of subsidy reset (http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=387) is has already discovered how to do this appearently. Im just tryin to find out how he did it so I can change mine to something only I know.
UPDATE: I extracted the subsidy reset file and discovered that it edits 015C_0001 and 015D_0001 SEEMS. Im guessing thats in the PDS, I checked F&B3 and those areas are SUBSIDY_LOCK_GSM_SSCP and SUBSIDY_LOCK_GSM_NWSCP. Now I need to find out how to edit these to change the subsidy lock

I don't think you can do it that either, not with just software. You will likely corrupt the PDS checksum and have to restore a backup. The Reset utility is a flash file designed to put in the all zeros code as if a factory unlocked unit, far less involved then putting in random number. If you understand how that flash changes the code to zeros a simple hex editor might do it.

Ok, this will not answer your question directly, but if you can't find a way to alter the code, and all you want is that nobody can use the phone whithout your sim, well, then superglue yor simcard into the slot, and be done with that problem.

I extracted the flash file and it only consists of two SEEMS: 015C_0001 and 015D_0001. In the PDS those SEEMS contain information on the subsidy code. So If that flash file changes the subsidy code to all zeroes and all it changes is those two seems, then those are where I can change the subsidy password. I just need to know exactly where

Nope. You know where already. You don't know what in the seems to change. It may be that only your old subsidy code will flash back in right. The all zeros code bypasses some of the checking an unlocked phone dose, your going to put in a code and start that up. The term opening can of worms leaps to mind.
If I were you I would ask if T-mobile can relock my phone, or see if Motorola Update will, theres risks in that. I have the worst luck with Moto Update.
Before you do anything make a number of backups, including the full PDS, and look over how to test point a phone.

I got this phone from a friend that got it from Cingular, so t-mobile wont help me out very much. Whatever, I cant really think of anything else so ill just keep this thread up n hopefully some1 will come along with an answer
Another quick thing. Mstool 8r randomly stopped recognizing my phone, but all of the other programs still do. I tried downloading it again many times from different sources but still no luck. If I can get a quick answer that'll be great, I might just have to start a new thread.
