Carrier Tag on Home Screen

just wondering how to get rid of the carrier tag on the home screen above th date. I want to modify it to my name or even just remove it. it was easy on my old nokia. is it possible on this?

btw, im in australia and my carrier is Telstra.

Easiest way to remove it is to use skinner4moto and edit your skin to have a completely transparent operator text. If you want to change it to say something else, you can use this guide (http://www.modmymoto.com/guides/e398/customcarriertext.php).

the L6 does not HAVe skins, i'll see if i can hunt down an alternative method

i read somewhere that it can be removed with motokit but I do not know how as I do not have an L6 to play with . . . I don't necissarily recommend playing around in there but maybe, who knows

scratch that follow these directions:

"EASY STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL":
1. dl the [opedit.zip]
2. extract it
3. dl [plmn_text_table.bin] from your L6 from /a partition
4. run [opedit.exe]
5. open downloaded [plmn_text_table.bin] in [opedit]
6. find YOURS CARRIER name and ERASE it
7. save the [plmn_text_table.bin] file
8. ul changed [plmn_text_table.bin] into your L6 (overwrite)
9. restart your phone
10. DONE

Hey ya cash, I gave your carrier tag on home screen a go and it didn't seem to work for my L6, would you have any other suggestions to get rid of vodafoneNZ from my screen that's blocking my daughters photo....!!!!

editing the table.bin file does not always work as sometimes the phone is set to get the provider name from the tower or the sim.

The tower option can be switched of using seemplayer.
The sim option I am still working on with another member of this board (Although we are doing it on another site !!) - when we have the answers we will post here aswell

Found this on the SEEM map can't tell u if it works cuz im not at home to try it out on my computer

Only thing that would work for me is Motokit.

load it up - and then tell it to disable the carrier tag.

sorry i am so vague - but for some reason - i just loaded motokit and it is displaying in some asian language - whereas it was in english the other night... but trust me it is easy.

u just have to remember to NOT have your phone connected to your pc - then select the area for the carrier tag - and THEN connect the phone to your pc. the window will change and you can then have it make the changes to your phone. if u have problems with it lemme know and i will give u better instructions from my work pc...

For my own choice, moto tool is great, easy to edit especially for those who don't get any idea of HEX or bit manipulation. All you need to do is download the seem, open moto tool (enclosed in this post), tick things you like, save and upload the file to your phone and restart.

The Alpha tag can be displayed whether from tower or sim depending on you choosing it on or off when modding the seem 0032_0001

Many other clearly visible things you can change easily.
