As for the original firmware, there is an ATT branded and Locked, and an ATT branded with locks removed available in MMUK's download section.

It won't lock your phone to AT&T.

Thanks Skrilax. I thought that was it, but needed a second opinion. I'll go ahead and flash it since there is nothing else I can do to it yet....haha I hate stock anything.

How did you get a unlocked version already? I thought there wasn't any unlocked V9x phones yet.

There are no "pure" unlocked versions of the V9x available AFAIK (think Maxx V6). That is, there are no versions of the handset yet on the market without the AT&T branding on the housing and packaging. Vermsky apparently has managed to remove the code from the firmware that locks the phone to AT&T's network, though.

Now thats only good if you have an unlocked phone right... it won't unlock your locked phone.

Yes. But actually if you buy an "unlocked" phone from AT&T, in fact it is locked, but you get the subsidy password with it. That's what I heard. Then it is not that bad for you if you accidentaly lock it.

I ended up calling ATT to get the subsidy code. Got my friends nextel sim and unlocked the phone. Worked fine. Not sure if the code works anymore though. The csr told me I had five tries to get the code right or I would have to call back to generate another one.

Theres only one subsidy code for one phone/IMEI.
and even if you go over 5 tries, you will still be able to unlock it. Just leave the phone on for couple of hours, eventually it will ask for the subsidy code again and you can get it unlocked. :buttkick:

Could I get the link to MMUK' website having a hell of a time finding it.

I've got my V9x unlocked but I have already done some mods to it and don't want to put the locked backup back in just to unlock and then redo everything.

Did that after writing the post, but how does this work when I flash it's so simple to unlock the firmware what causes it not to unlock the phone when flashed back to the phone?

I'm taking it for granted you mean the SBF-Recalc_1.2.8 method.
