View Full Version : Help! I Jacked Up My Phone

I hate being a newb and I probably deserve what happened but long story, I wanted to back up my phone so I went through the process of creating a backup with flashbackup 2.62 via the guide but the original .shx file that the guide was talking about did not exist and nothing was said as to how to make the original .shx. I made the .bin file though. Now I know that if something got messed up I would need an .shx file of my backup to restore via RSD. I tried backing up with flashbackup 3 but when it said "executing JUMP" it would error out and the whole process quit. I was led to believe that this was because of my bootloader and also everything I've been seeing says that you need to have bootloader 07.D0 to restore. So, I downgraded my bootloader and it worked except my phone wasn't booting. I could press *,# and see that it was correct but it wouldn't boot. At that point I should have come here and asked for help but I'm stupid and thought that I should try to restore everything back via the flashbackup 2.62 program. That failed and screwed up my phone. Now the keypad lights stay on all the time and the phone does nothing. If I take the battery out and put it back in and press *,# nothing happens. No display. When I connect up to RSD it shows something connected but not a Motorolla phone. It shows “S Blank Neptune LTE”. When I click on it, in the device properties window is shows “N/A” for everything. Is this phone totally done for or is there some slim chance in hell that I can get it working again. Thanks!

there is still a chance if your phone can be detected on RSD Lite. have you made backups of your phone's BL and PDS?

Thanks for your reply. As for the bootloader, no. I don't have a backup of that. I do have the 07d0 bootloader though. I was unable to do the PDS backup in flashbackup 3 like in the guide but I did a PDS backup in flashbackup 2.62. I'm not sure that will do anything since there was no guide on that. The file is 64K large.

64KB is the correct size for the PDS, i know that, so you should be fine.just follow the guides

just try to flash a stock MP for V3 first if it will work and flash it using RSD Lite 3.

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 05:25 AM
Well, I took your advice and tried reloading a stock MP with RSD Lite 2.8 (All I could find on the web) and what I got was this. It would build an image file and then when that was done, a warning poped up saying "You are flashing a reflash file into a phone that appears to be blank. This is only a valid use case if trying to recover a Neptune LTE/LTS based phone that has SECURITY errors." Then it asks if I want to proceed. I click "Yes" and it tries to load but fails with the error "Failed flashing process. Phone (0000): Error erasing subscriber unit. Device API Error: 0xE00200C0 Command: ERASE (0xE01220C0)". Any other suggestions? I hope someone can help.

ah i see. i know that. you have to flash your pds first with the program you used to make a backup of it. then after that try to flah a stock MP again.

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 06:10 AM
Well, I made the PDS in flashbackup2.62 and I tried restoring it in the same program. Backup mode "PDS Backup". Only thing I dont know is the select loader option. I used the same thing I used before to made it? "32 MB (08A0).ldr" Cliked "Restore" and I get an error that says "Sending loader failed! Before continue check is your PDS backup valid. Continue?" I click "Yes" and it does nothing except disconnect my phone. I have to pull the USB cable and plug it back in again. Same problems as before with RDS

11-29-2006, 06:25 AM
OMG! why is that you cannot restore your PDS? it's in fbp format right? have you tried the primary loader?

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 06:35 AM
Actually it is a .bin format. I did try the primary loader (16 MB & 32MB) Same problem though. This software seems to only create .bin files. :(

so just because you downgraded your BL i think your full backup wont work now and you need a modded firmware for your 07.D0 now. check it out here. http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1462

i do not really know how to help you here maybe an expert like archer and apristel can help you. make sure you have extra batteries .

btw, have you tried restoring your full backup bin file?

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 06:43 AM
Yeah. I tried restoring my full backup but same problem. :(

am i right with that one? about the modded firmware?

kirklestat
11-29-2006, 06:52 AM
alright since you still have the bootloader 07.D0 then you may try to flash a stock MP with that BL also. just a thought. i ran out of options here.

kirklestat
11-29-2006, 06:55 AM
or upload the bootloader again. damn! why it is not working for you?

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 06:57 AM
Sorry, no. Same problems. I tried reloading the bootloader again in RSD and when it says "erasing flash memory" it gets to 10% and the phone disconnects. It fails.
am i right with that one? about the modded firmware?

if you can only flash your pds back you should be fine. after you flashed your pds then flash a bootloader and flash a MP.

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 07:18 AM
Hmmm. Well what can I do? My PDS backup is a .bin file and it wont load. Is there another software you think I can use that might help?

i never tried this one. SHXCODEC! on the utilities choose flasher then click add bin, select your PDS backup, code group set to CG6, and start address to 10010000. it's really risky and i never tried it.

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 08:16 AM
Yeah, that's not working. I cant even get that program to run. So, am I stuck? Does anyone else have any ideas for me? I would love to get this phone working again.

midas.dll file is what you need and you need to register it. The on your pc hit Start then RUN and type exactly this regsvr32 midas.dll

wagdaddy
11-29-2006, 08:29 AM
Well, I can run it but it immediately crashes.

kirklestat
11-29-2006, 08:39 AM
damn. now what to do? it would be better to wait for the V3 mods here first. wait for ArcherIV and apristel and charge your battery first if you have a wall charger. they know a lot. i dont have any options on how to revive that one.

From The UnBricking Master "Anty506":

IF you have made a full backup or a PDS backup of your cell phone PRIOR to bricking it then your phone is most definitely savable...given that you don't panic
I would first like to add that the steps provided here are the general solutions to fix a PDS IF YOU HAVE A BACKUP and may not work on every phone.

I have also noticed a lot of people making a PDS backup using Flash Backup, which is good, but they happened to make it improperly---see bottom of tutorial for steps on creating a proper backup---If you happen to be one of these ppl who forgot to check the disable compression box. Then there is a simple fix for this. Simply rename the .fbp extension to .cab. then use WinRar to extract the archive. Next rename the extension to .bin and delete the other un-needed file

Things you will need prior to undertaking in this revival guide

RFDI.shx (used to repair S Blank Neptune LTE or phones whos PDS is gone or corrupt)
DO NOT FLASH THIS TO YOUR PHONE IF IT IS WORKING
1.RFDI IMAGE.SHX
2.SHXCodec
3.R374_V3BL 07.D0.shx
4.Current Monster Pack (your choice)
5.Reflash file for firmware upgrade(not necessary but we might as well upgrade)
6a. PDS.bin
6b. Full Backup file---see step 3b for extraction method (only needed if you don’t have PDS.bin)
7. PDS.shx template
----Do not flash just the template, it will kill your phone if you don't have a PDS backup to restore. You must first insert "your" PDS into the template, then flash.
8. XVI32—used to extract the PDS from your full backup
9. RAMldr – this can be used to put the PDS.bin file back on to the phone, however though since I really don’t want ppl using this method as it causes more problems, im not going to provide a link. Find it yourself.

Here is everything you will need to recover your phone “MrBucket101’s Un-Brick Kit (http://rapidshare.de/files/18268602/MrBucket101_s_Un-Brick_Kit.rar.html)”

The main focus of this tutorial is the restoration of your cellphones PDS and im going to try and include all methods that I know of, however I highly recommend only using the following methods, FlashBackup (if it works) , or the PDS.shx creation method
STEPS:
1.Flash the RFDI image file to your phone
-----this image will install BL 07E0 in order to access the phone at any type of low-level (we need to) we will need to have BL 07D0 installed
2. Flash BL07D0
Right now you have a choice although I’m going to recommend you follow steps 3a and 4a as they are the most user friendly however if you want to you can skip to step 4b and restore your PDS.bin using RAMldr (not recommended)
3a-Extracting the PDS from a full backup---see step 3-b if you have a valid PDS.bin file
--- This is a relatively easy process that takes about 15-30 seconds (after you get used to it)
3a-1. open xvi32 and open up your fullbackup.bin file which should be 32MB
3a-2. first we need to make sure our settings are right. Goto Address>goto, Make sure there are dots inside the two radio buttons titled “absolute” and “hexadecimal”
3a-3. now select Address>Goto, and type the numbers “1FFFFFF” in the box and click ok
3a-4. go to edit>block mark
3a-5. go to address>goto, and type the numbers “20000” in the box and click ok
3a-6. go to edit>block mark
3a-7. go to edit>block delete
3a-9. go to address>goto and type the number “0” in the box and click ok
3a-10. go to edit>block mark
3a-11. go to address>goto and type the letters “FFFF” in the box and click ok
3a-12. go to edit>block mark
3a-13. go to edit>block delete
3a-14. Save your PDS and don’t forget to add the “.bin” extension
To check that your PDS is valid open it back up and look at the first three letters in the ASCII side of XVI32 if the first letters are PDS then its ok…also the file size should be 64kb
3-b. Creating a PDS.shx file
3b-1. Place your PDS backup file with the .bin extension in the PDS_Flash directory.
3b-2. Now open SHXCoDec 2.65 or later and press the SPLIT SOURCE SHX FILE.
3b-3. Locate the PDS_Flash folder and select the “R374_V3_PDS_template.shx” file then press OPEN,
the file will then be split into 2 files the RAM Downloader and CG6.
3b-4. Select/highlight the CG6 file of type PDS
with the address of start=10010000, end=1001FFFF, size=65,536
3b-5. Now choose REPLACE and change the files type to (Bin Files *.bin)
select your backup PDS.bin file in the PDS_Flash folder and press OPEN and then confirm replacement.
3b-6. Now press COMPILE SHX and enter a new file name for the PDS Flash backup.
Make sure to include the .shx extension on the end. Then press save, compiling begins, the process will be done when compiled.
NOTE: some ppl are getting a midas.dll error message when using shxcodec…to fix this go to the WINDOWS/system32>right click on regsvr32.exe and select “send to desktop (create shortcut), next drag and drop the midas.dll on top of the newly created shortcut and that should fix the problem
4a Flash your PDS.shx to your phone using RSD Lite 2.3 or higher
4b-Using RAMldr to restore the PDS.bin (not recommended)
4b-1. open ramldr and click send ramldr
4b-2. select ldr_pds.bin
4b-3. The log should now come up and say ADDR 03FD0000AD
JUMP 03FD0010AE
ACK JUMP,03FD0010
4b-4. In the base addr type “10010000” and in the entry addr type “10020000”
4b-5. The log should now say ACK Erase (this is where most ppl have problems as instead of ACK Erase they get a USB I/O error…sorry dunno how to fix it)
4b-6. type 10010000 in the base addr
4b-7. click on send binary and select your PDS.bin file
4b-8. The log should now say ADDR 1001000082
4b-9. press restart and you’re done
5. Flash a MP
I’m pretty sure this next process is not needed but i have heard rumors of PDS not working unless they had the same flex/firmware as before so lets not leave room to err and complete this last step with pride
6. Flash your phone with a reflash_mlp.shx
Hopefully your phone has been "Un-Bricked"

How to create a proper PDS backup using Flash Backup 2.62
1. Select the backup tab
2. Change the backup mode to PDS backup
3. Put a check mark in the disable compression box
4. In the bottom drop down menu select "select another" and then locate a file called "32 MB (08A0).ldr"
5. Then click create...and wait for this to finish (it should take about 15 seconds total to create)
Once done burn this to a CD and keep it in a safe place as well as saving it somewhere on ur comp where its ez to find in an emergency.

you were lucky cellexpert. ususally if something happens while flashing, ie:computer crash, the firmware is erased and the pds gets scrambled, but i see here that you still had BL 0200, which will allow you to repair with little difficulty.

mergreen, put the v3 in bootloader and hook it up to RSD, let us know the bootloader info, and if it says "s blank" for your device. if all fields are n/a, you will have to do some work!!
