Dear modmymoto geeks,
I am a new member that just got a new phone from tmobile. The software and bootloader version are:

BL.0C.F4
SW.R3442A_G_0E.43.25R

I am in need of help to unlock this as I am taking a trip in two weeks to the Dominican Republic, what would be the easiest method to unlock this. Thank you in advance.

Hello geek, lol. There isn't a software way to unlock, nor a hardware one yet. You can either get a code using one of the companies advertising in the Net, without garanty ( I wouldn't, because I fell for it a few times with different phones and no result but out of money :( ). Or ask your provider for the code, and tell them that you will go abroad, as you do. If you have been a good customer with them, they usually hand you out the subsidy code.

There isn't a hardware way of unlocking this, not even by using the smart clip box. I found this very difficult to believe, someone must have unlock this in one way or another.

Smart clip works, but is an expensive toy to buy. If you know someone with a box, that would be fine. Ultima Box also states that they can unlock now, but I havwe not heard positive feedback frm users about that. Also an expensive piece of equipment to buy.

What exactly is a Smart clip? How does it work?

Its a box, in which there is a bit of software, you connect it to the phone. But that doesn't help much, you need access to the smartbox support site, on which the real software runs, called smartmoto. Then you have with or without Testpoint full acess to all protected and unprotected areas of the phone, depending on the phone model. For the v3re, only with TP, so I heard. And with that full access you can rewrite anything to the phone. Like format and start again, lol.

Well my computer is a smart box I just need to get that software to run on it(lol).

Na better yet I'll DRILL a hole in my phone, tear up the main board. And stick a hot iron on it to melt all the soilder together. Then when I mess up phone royally Ill have to come up with the greatest excuse ever for At&T how this happened to my phone. L O L

lol. To be honest, Modnmotos, there really are good uses for the TP method. I've surfed the v3 section and sometimes they need to do it.

Hm.... the smart clip sounds very very interesting. How much does it cost? And dang, is it even legal?

Legality Is A Very Good Issue To Inquire About!

How would it be illegal the phone is our property right, you can do to it what you want right? Or are we all in trouble?lol Did you mean in a diff context?

If you run across good uses for TP method please shoot a hyperlink to email, this peaks my interests. (not that Ide ever be confident enough to try but still interesting)(fearfull of 'melting' to much and ruining board)

Well, the phone is your property, but you're certainly not allowed to change the IMIE code (it would be very illegal. Notice there's no guides about it.) And Dumba said the smart clip allows you to access all protected parts of the phone. That's why I was asking.

Sure, here's a couple links:

http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197671 - Downgrading the BL apparently needs the TP method for that phone.

http://www.modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=176461 - Read some of the posts below the initial post.

I think you may have the wrong idea about the method. You don't solder a bunch of stuff together. The second link describes it pretty well.

So TPing is for unbricking phone or downgrading bl??

I thought I saw posts how to do this with software. Also the info I read about the soldering iron was specificly for unlocking carrier and it also said becarefull not to hold iron on board to long cause you will melt to much solder together and ruin phone. Im gonna look for that info again so I can......zzzzzz.....snore......Oh yeah share the info(lol) Great now Im all 'thirsty' to get the info straight and I shouldve went to sleep 2hrs ago. Why do I do this to myself? lol

Haha, I wouldn't worry about it. It looks like it doesn't work right for the v3re anyway, so I wouldn't bother. Go sleep, man.

i also need to unlock my phone a V3re with
Boot Loader
0C.F4.
SW Version:
R3443A_G_0E.43
.OAR
OK to Program
USB
Transfer Mode
except i need to go from att to t-mobile
i've been looking all over for how and trying to avoid cutting anything(ie using TP, which i don't believe works on V3re yet anyway)
Just wondering if anything is now available to use for unlocking.

Only way to unlock the phone is by susidy code from AT&T which if your a customer all you have to do is ask, as long as your in good standing with them for at least 3 months.

Or there are legit sites that sell subsidy codes but there are scams as well so be careful.

Or test point flash with smart clip or rocker box or some form of smart cable. These smart cables are expensive though.

**edit** now that I looked at your sw version its not a v3re. Not sure what it is though. v3i maybe....idk
