If I want to use guides for our wiki, I can't take them from other sites, sorry. I can post up a guide made by one of our users, who gives credit to the person who made the guide originally, but without links to them. And if the original Guide maker isn't keen on it, and dislikes the inclusion into our guides, I have to take it out again. So its always good to have consent beforehand. Same is with guides, linking to threads in ModMyMoto or other sites, that is complicated to maintain, once a site changes server or goes from vBulletin to another Forum form for example, all those links are dead ends, and that is not wanted content then. The info must be in tthe attachments, same for pictures, I have to upload them to the MMM server, each and every one, because they might disappear on another hosting site after three month. Its a lot of work, but we will get it done. :)

Thankyou for the info Dumba. This is my web page and Im just triying to help the new modder who needs simple guides. I saw the two guides from pawanpandey and as good and detailed as they are, they look very involved and lengthy. Simple is better especialy when your a newby. Plus I think and know there are simpler ways to go about doing what we do. Again they are great guides though! So what your saying is I need to try to find the authors of the orig guides from which I simplified mine from, ask them for permission to simplify their guides, then repost the simplified guides, with credit mentioned to the orig author. Really no guide is orig. Bits and pieces are taken from lots of diff guides. All this red tape!!! Thats why I just threw that link to my page with the simplified guides. Have any other sug. let me know.

No, no other suggestions, lol. And permission is only needed for example if a guide is already published somewhere else. If its a new write up, from existing knowledge in the web, that is fine. Linking to official sites to download stuff is fine, like motodev, or links to the MMM download section. Linking to other sites to achieve a download is problematic. Many sites have disappeared, and withthem all the database they had. Like Maxmo or Momo. Poetic Folly, one of our two site owners will create the new guide section, once I hand him the guides, lol. He is running our very busy sister sites ModMyi and ModMyGphone as well, so I have to make it as simple as possible for him. And I am not very good at it, but will try my best too, :)

Would it help if we posted a bunch of guides as threads? To make the transition easier? I know I'd like to write one or two, as well.

Yep. that is what I meant in my other thread. Post guides up as threads, and put the link from that new Guide post into that thread, then I have a place where to take the Boss, lol.
