WOW that was the easiest mod Ive ever done to my phone! Called AT&T. Asked for it. Gave it to me. They didnt even ask why! At the end of the conversation I did mention about wife maybe leaving country and I thats why I wanted to have this info just incase service was'nt avali. ,thanked her and hung up. She did warn however that 5 unsuccessfull attempts will lock phone perm. to AT&T.

The directions are as follows: take out current providers sim and put in a diff provider sim, turn on phone. Then phone will prompt for the unlock code. I am looking for a way around this for those of you who can get a code, but dont have a diff providers sim sitting around.

Also from what Ive read there is nothing illegal about unlocking phones to use with diff providers. Wikipedia and dont remember where I read the other one.

Thanks for sharing, and yes, unlocking isn't illegal in most places, on contrary, the locking process to lure customers, is watched carefully by many legal departments, of governments, worldwide. And in many places, like the US you are entitled to receive the subsidy code after 90 days from your provider, provided you have been a good and paying customer.

Its simple! Do you have a diff provider sim to make phone prompt for code when you get though? Im working on a way around this.

When the.... wonderful (cough cough)... customer service at T-Mobile finally gives me my code, I'll see if I can figure it out, as well.
