Try to change the seem back and see if there is sig. Plus if your powerdown sound is visable in /a/mobile/audio using mexplorer then no seem edit needed just rename and drop in audio folder. Plus you prob dont want to hear this but if worst comes to worst flash your backup on it and start over then do your mods and before you get to the shutdown stuff make a backup. Then make seem edit again.

offset 24 (01 for custom shutdown sound stored in /a/mobile/audio/Power~down.mp3, 00 for no custom shutdown sound)

The powerdown sound should be located in the audio folder. And the powerdown animation should be in the root dir. But Danation and I just went through this with pywll and I believe without the animation seem enabled neither sound or animation will work. (will try to find that post for you later) Dont know how much Im helping but if you have any other questions ask I'll do my best to answer.

The distilled results of my foray into custom boot sounds is here (http://modmymoto.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2504081&postcount=51).

The gist is basically if you want to use a custom sound with the stock animation, just name the sound Start~up.mp3 and copy it to the ~/audio folder, enable both the Motorola Start-up Animation and Use Custom Sound on Start-up seems. If you want to use a custom sound with a custom animation, copy the custom animation (Cust_Wakeup.gif if I'm remembering correctly, but not 100% sure) to the root directory and the sound named as Cust_Start~up.mp3 to the ~/audio directory, disable the Motorola Animation (or you'll get both) and enable Custom Animation and Custom Sound. At least that's the way it worked on my R3442A~.25R

Just remember that you will not be able to see the startup/shutdown sounds on the phone (since they are "hidden"), you'll have to use P2KCommander or M-Explorer. And since you can't deal with the root directory at all with P2KComm, it's easier to use M-Explorer to get everything copied in one go.
