v3xxr p2ktoolsVS (3) Am I Connected?

I want to use p2ktoolsVS (3) to read all the seems and make a couple of changes and back up the phone. It will say connected with the green indicator at the bottom of the prog window but it will not allow me to read the seem information or do anything at all as far as read the phone. I have read through the wonderful info all over this community but there is soo much and I am having a real tough time getting started. I have used skiman and skinned the phone . THats as far as I have made it. I have motorola phone tools to backup my contacts and media. I have downloaded and installed the windows drivers after moto phone tools. Help

I had that problem as well and messed with it for hours before I realized that in the settings in the section P2k mode there is a swith for P2K phones and P2K05 phones which the V3xxR is, I'm not sure if you did that or not, but its the only possible solution my muddled mind can offer!
