I went to motorola, registered, and downloaded the driver. Or you can try this I found it in the d/l section of mmm:
http://www.driversupdated.com/exact/motorola.php
Install the driver and your set. What are you tring to flash? An mp? Tring to backup?
Any way there is a guide on flashing/backing up your phone before modifing in the guides section.
Quick software guide for you:
RSDlite or falsh & backup for flashing phone with mps, or backing up
mexplorer for accessing ringtones, pictures, videos
p2ktools for extracting seems and doing seem changes and enabling java app loader(installing games), enabling funlights/ ringlights and many other features on your phone
pkcomm for installing skins

I'd uninstall all of the drivers and modding software, temporarily. Then I'd reinstall them following the guide exactly, just in case something went wrong there. I'd try different USB ports, just in case, as well.
Mostly just a shot in the dark, but that's what I'd try next.

In the begining I had all sorts of trouble with mpt installed and after i uninstalled it then uninstalled everything else and only reinstalled the motorola driver and used mexplorer, rsdlite, p2kcomm,pktools I had no problems. I think mpt driver was conflicting with the other driver however i would think theyd be the same. Anyway that helped me but others have said they had no problems with mpt installed so its just a suggestion to try. This is pretty much like what Danation said. Sometimes opening up rsdlite and minimize(leave running in the background) will help/allow programs to connect with the phone also.

Youcompletely uninstalled everything and started over? Dont give up you'll get it. I had ALOT of problems in the begining as well. So you're having problems installing drivers or connecting phone after successfull installation of drivers?

how do you give to computer drivers? What are you asking?
Do in this order not sure if its going to work just a suggestion of what I would do.
1st uninstall everything.
2nd restart windows(assuming your using xp)
3rd reinstall(Handset_USB_Driver_32_v3.3.0) & RSDLite_4.1
4th restart windows (optional)(having this much trouble its what I would do)
5th open up rsdlite
6th connect phone(dont worry about any error messages just x out of them)
7th unpack and open P2KToolsVS_3.0.7.759updated_by_mmuk (or any newer version)
8th what do you see in the bottom left hand corner of pktools? Can you go to 'Hidden Settings' up top and on left go to 'java'. Then click 'get values', check 'java app loader' and set the values? Restart phone from the phone pic at top left. Then on phone see if in java settings your java app loader is there. Post what happens after this.
*edit if this doesnt work try switching #6&7 around. (dont connect phone untill all programs are open and running)
I still get from time to time error messages that say motorola usb device malfunction device may not be working prop....... I just close everything and reopen and it works fine. Hope this helps.
