View Full Version : Installing JAVA Apps

I have read through about 10 different posts throughout this forum of people asking how to install JAVA Apps or Games onto their phones. I have posted this same message on several threads, but decided to start a new one so everyone can see easier.
The best thing i know to tell you is to get the P2KTools from the M3 downloads section.
Once you get it installed, and have it connected to your phone, click on the Hidden Settings button on the left hand side. The click on the KJava in the menu, then click the Get Values button at the top. Make sure the checkbox next to app loader is checked, then click Set values button.
The close P2KTools and go into the Java
Settings on your phone. You should have a new menu item called Java App Loader. Unplug the USB cable from your phone, then click on the Java App Loader on your phone. It will tell you to Insert Cable Now, and do that. Then it will tell you that JAL link is active...
Then using MotoMidway (google it) you can upload and install the JAD file to your phone. If the game is a JAR file, then you need to find a program called JADMaker (google it too). It will transform the JAR to a JAD.
That's about the easiest way to do it.

You left one thing out though.
....Values button at the top. Make sure the checkbox next to app loader is checked, then click Set values button.
****Power cycle phone here****
The close P2KTools and go into the Java......
I use MIDway_2_8 its a very simple java installer never used Motomidway(or are we talking about the same program?) so either program works for java installation, thats good to know, thanks. One other thing make sure jar and jad files are in the same folder. Fyi a jad file is like a shortcut, it describes the jar file to midway for installation.

I think MIDway_2_8 and MotoMidway are the same program.

I figured out why my links have been dead. I was simply copying & pasting my original post that I made about 3 months ago.
This might be easier...

Well, you would need both the .jad and the .jar file. But for specifics on the V3xx, I would have no idea. I'd ask in the V3xx section:

I have what probably will sound like a dumb question, but I've only had my Razr v3re (on at&t) for maybe 3 days. I have been googling for about 3 hours now and can't find an answer to this.
I did per above and all went well. When I select java loader on my phone it tells me to plug my cable in. I do and i get the message jal active. My problem is that as soon as that comes up, i get a notification message about my ring style that seems to knock my java connection off.
How do I fix this so JAL stays active so I can upload games?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Even though it says something about ring style try to install games or apps anyway. Maybe link is still active even though it doesnt say it. Try going to silent or if its in silent goto loud and try to connect jal link. Make sure you go into settings and turn java app loader on and make sure it says insert usb. I know when sound profile is on vib or silent(i think its one or both of those) it auto switches to loud when you plug in to charging source. So maybe this is whats happening and its conflicting with jal link. Play around with it and let us know if this helps.

I agree completely! In fact, I just tested it on my v3re to see if that was the case, and when it was on silent profile and I plugged my USB cable it, it said JAL Active, then it switched to Loud sound profile.

Thanks to all for input. I figured it out. I switched phone to silent, so the pop up stopped when i selected JAL on my phone. Also I aparently had Motorola Midway on the wrong com port. DOH!. I just up loaded my first game a second ago and it worked.
Thanks again.
