Hi!

I'm new here. My name is Tom, I live in Belgium, Europe, and I just discovered this site while looking for a way to get itunes on my SLVR L7

I own a clean European L7; without i-tunes, without any locks/operator menus.

I don't seem to be able to get midman/p2kmanager/... working. I followed the instructions in the connectivity section of this site:

- memory card mode works fine
- switched the phone to data/modem
- installed the drivers (detects motorola L7 usb modem, installs it, works fine, phone is recharging)
- but then this happens:

as soon as I start one of the programs (midman, motokit, p2kman.,..) the "USB composite device" gets installed, just like the manual predicted, but after installing the (proper) drivers, I get an error message "code 10: device can't be started" and the recharging stops, connection gone, and the L7 usb modem entry disappears from the hardware list.

so far i've tried to:

-start all over (delete drivers, and reinstall)
-reboot computer several times
-other usb port
-other computer
-..

does anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

thx in advance

Try installing flash&backup3, then when prompted to install the drivers, select specific location, and browse to the f&b3 installation folder, there go into the drivers folder, and have the PC install them

thx, I gave it a try, but PST gives the same result as the other programs, as soon as the program is loaded, xp gives the sound of my phone disconnecting, it stops reloading and in my hardware manager the modem disappears and the USB composite device appears with a yellow exclamation mark..

what is this USB composite device exactly?

is the phone supposed to connect as a modem or as the USB composite device?

ok, got news.. good news:smoker:

I got pretty desperate trying to solve my problem.. I started to google.. "USB composite device".. I found a microsoft webpage, giving information about a hotfix for this problem in Windows XP

Q814560 is the name, you can't download it from the microsoft site anymore, but it comes with PST 7.x . When I installed PST i got a language conflict error from one of those updates, because my XP is in Dutch, and the updates are in english.

the sollution for people with an English version of Winxp without SP2 is to install PST 7.x, for everyone else, get a legal copy (if you don't have one already) and install SP2

In an act of desperation I tried it again on my other (XP SP2) computer, after running the drivercleanup program from motorola, the whole thing came alive, and so now I have itunes fully working on my SLVR:beerchug:

Thanks everyone for helping me! great forum and a lot of people who know more about moto phones than I thought there was to know:grin:

grtz
