Backing up with P2kTools

I was able to successfully back up my phone with P2kTools and flash it back on with both P2kTools and F&B3.

Hopefully this will help out people who need an alternative to F&B3

I'll be posting a guide on it when I get a chance.

Is there anything P2kTools can't do? I love this program.

k, here they are. Put them in the appropriate folders (in the flash folder, put the profile in the Profiles subfolder and the loader in the ramlds folder.)

As a side note, the backups from each program are likely identical (depending on what format you used.) My F&B3 .shx backup is the same as my P2kTools .shx backup.

There are some small differences between what you need to do for the v3re and what it says in the guide, so I'm going to ask R^7Z for permission to tweak his guide for the v3re section.

Can Pktools Flash in binary? (cg's) Or do you have to use Fb3 for this still?

why you want to flash bin files
i always create an shx to flash
i have never used the quick flash in f&b

For modding. We have had a member that had Fb3 but it expired, and he could'nt buy it. He wanted to change his bootscreen and mod drm's. The only program he had was P2K Tools, so like Danation said " Hopefully this will help out people who need an alternative to F&B3 ", this might work for the member who could'nt get Fb3, if it'll flash individual cg's.

it can add and delete code groups to flash files
dont think it can flash bins
but you can just edit an already made shx and add the bin you like

SMG, CG,'s are bin files. So p2ktools can flash individual code groups as well? Or are you saying you have to 'edit' an shx and flash that?

i just browsed what p2k tools can do

but you can open a shx(really for the ramdld) delete the code groups then add your smg/bin files
then you can basically flash smg/bin files

So if I understand you correctly you can flash individual code groups its just not as easy as Fb3.

Yes. You can flash individual CG's, and you can back up individual CG's if you want (for example, the bootscreen or DRM icons.)

It's more or less the same deal as with F&B3 (some small differences,) just with a different user interface.

if you meant checking individual cg's from an shx or sbf then yes you can do that

btw f&b cannot flash bin files unless you add the ramdld to it in the firmware tab

Yeah. Basically, I think what modnmotos was asking is if you could mod individual CG's and flash them with P2kTools. And that's a yes if you make it into a .shx.

I don't think I've tried the "quickflash" feature of F&B that you mentioned. What's it's advantage?

btw, R^7Z replied to my PM and asked me what I needed changed. Hopefully he'll let us tweak it for the v3re. I'll let you guys know what he says.
