View Full Version : Trying to extract files from MP's

I'm wanting to extract files from some MP's to use, and going by the tutorials, I'm not having much luck.
I originally tried this link:
http://modmymoto.com/wiki/index.php/Razr_V3r_Extract_Files_From_Monster_Pack
but could not install SHX Codec... I could not get the Midas.dll to install...I got the midas.dll file along with the app file. Where do I put the .dll file? I have tried putting it in the system32 file, but still won't work.
Then I used Danation's suggestion, I used SBF Recalc. With this program, I found my MP to split, and opened the .shx file and split it.
With flexparser, I found the CG2.smg file that SBF split, but it did nothing... didn't extract the files from the MP or anything.
AM I doing something wrong?

I used SHXCodec one time and it worked perfectly, however just like ten minutes ago went to open it up to use it and encountered the same problem. I tried to open right from the zip folder- didnt work. Tried to drag both to desktop top- didnt work. Kept saying couldnt load midas.dll, just opened it a bunch of times, then as I was closing them out it poped up. I kept closing them out untill the last one and it said couldnt load, clicked ok and it poped up working just fine. Try a couple of times in a row. Maybe that will help. If anyone else knows what causes this and how to fix let us know. Thanks.

Thanks...I'll keep on trying that...maybe I could get it to pop up and work too...

Put the dll file right where the exe file is for SHXCodec. Same folder. That SHOULD work.
I haven't used flexparser, so I don't know what that's about, but it sounds like SBF Recalc did what it was supposed to do.... hmmm. I'll have to give it a shot when I can...
Update:
K, the problem isn't SBF Recalc or SHXCodec. It is flexparser. The guide points to an old version. And the latest version doesn't appear to work with the v3re. Modnmotos and I both just tried it out and it doesn't work.

Put the dll file right where the exe file is for SHXCodec. Same folder. That SHOULD work.
That's what I would suggest. From the multiple error dialogs ending in a running program, it sounds like it's looking for Midas along the path and popping a box for every directory in which it doesn't find it (but that's just a guess).
Try putting the .dll in the same directory as the exe, and check the program for "options" or "preferences" or something that might allow you to point to the dll directly (or check for a config / ini somewhere)...
I dunno--maybe I should actually look at the program before offering advice...

That's what I would suggest as well. Basically, it's just an exe and a dll. And both need to be in the same directory. That's it.
As far as flexparser goes, I'm stuck. Anybody have any success? I've tried versions 1, 2, and 4 (which was just uploaded today, btw.) All of them except version 1 had error messages and failed. Version 1 did absolutely nothing. Modnmotos tried version 4 and it made files.... that were all 0kb in size.

Any other ideas on what we could use to extract files from MP's as in the original guide then?
With SHX Codec I've tried putting both files into the same folder, but still get the same error. Not too worried about this, since SBF Recalc seems to work well.
I noticed a new flexparser too...but haven't tried it yet. Hopefully someone else can chime in here too...

razr's edge I unpacked both files into a folder. The exe and dll were in the folder and I opened it up. The dialog box poped up 'error loading dll', hit ok,(this happened 3 times) and last time program opened and worked just fine. So other than hitting ok 3 times it works just fine.
Thanks guys I had same thoughts and pwyll I checked for options as there were none for pointing the program to the dll, or even a config file to check. But as long as the final result is a working program Im fine with that.
And the flexparse, yeah thats a puzzling one for sure I tried again with the same results = 0kb files

Danation I've tried as well with xp all versions with same results you had, except the total system shutdown, smoke pouring out of the back, computer moaning in pain as it come to a screeching halt. LOL LOL (inside joke) , anyways if anyone has suggestions, or finds a new program please post!

are you sure you are using smg's

Yes I am atleast. Do any of you think it could be a V3re specific issue, as in the cg2 is different somehow than any other models? Just a thought.

I'm very positive that I'm using SMGs.
I tried the following:
1 Directly backed up CG2 with F&B (SMG format) and also P2kTools. Flexparser version 1 did nothing. Versions 2 and 4 came up with the I/O error that Tattoozit described.
2 Did a full back up with F&B and P2kTools in .shx format. Split apart .shx file with SBF Recalc. Flexparser version 1 did nothing. Versions 2 and 4 came up with the same I/O error.
3 Did a full back up with F&B and P2kTools in .shx format. Split apart .shx file with SHXCodec. Flexparser version 1 did nothing. Versions 2 and 4 came up with the same I/O error.
I'm sure that's overkill, but I wanted to make sure that flexparser was the issue, not any of the other programs.

have u tried unrar?
Danation

Unrar? Do you mean Winrar? Or is that another program?
I could give those programs a try, but I really doubt it would work. I think they use a different system to compile the code group.
