Help unlocking a V3re (Already asking a subcidy code]

Hello Folks,

In the need of knowing how to unlock this V3re phone my friend brought from the US (T-moblile printed on it's back), I was browsing this section and looks like there is no way to unlock the phone if it's asking the subcidy code.. :confused:

I am from India.. BTW, since I didn't even know how to find the details of the phone, I downloaded FB 3.0.7 and installed. After connecting the phone this is what it shows..

Phone connected:- V3re
Firmware:- R3442A_G_0E.43.08R|||Flex:-GSTRAZR06ATT01NA0DE and then the IMEI number..

If there is absolutely no way to do it, I would like to know where I could get a cheapest and reliable deal to get the code online..

Yeah, you're gonna have to buy it online. I have never done it, so I don't know which sites are legitimate and which are scams. I also don't know the best price.

I've also been told by reliable sources (Dumba and others) that if you know anybody who has a smart clip, you can use it to unlock the phone (you'll have to TestPoint it first, though.)

Calling the carrier and asking for the subsidy code really is the best and safest and cheapest way of unlocking a phone.

Modnmotos: You're right. It's definitely the best way if you can.

BUT you have to be a customer in good standing. He's not a T-Mobile customer. He just bought their phone. So they won't give him the code.

Plus, T-Mobile doesn't even always give you the code when you do call in, even if you ARE a good customer. I've never had a late payment, and I've been with them for 9 months, and they won't give me the subsidy code to my phone.

I have called them at least 10 times.

I'm not sure what their deal is, but I guess I'll have to buy the code or see if a phone shop here has a smartclip.
