If I were to sell a phone, what needs to be done?
Is there any info that I would'nt want others to know?
Should I scratch IMEI# off the back?
I know a master clear would need to be done, but what else?

man your paranoid tonight lol. just a master clear would be good, no need to scratch the IMEI number off because they'll need it.

Just master clear. The IMEI number is phone specific, so the next user can and should have that number.

Plus, they could just plug it in, and F&B will tell them what the IMEI is anyway, lol.

Wow, Clarkey, you beat me to the post AGAIN. Lol :)

I actually have a question. Do you generally sell the phone with the SIM still in it for reprogramming, or not? Or does it even matter?

My thought is no because if I the buyer has a different provider then the card is useless anyways, plus some providers dont even use sims.

Just my thought on it.....

Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the providers that don't use sims use phones that don't have the capacity for sims. Pretty sure one of our phones wouldn't work on their networks.

And what if I want to sign up with the provider of the phone I'm buying?

In any case, that's just the details. Any disadvantage of sending the sim with it?

Well a guy at my work had a v3(something) I don't remember the model. It looked like our phone and I thought it was, untill he took the bat out. Then I saw it was not the same model as ours. I then realized he didnt have a sim in it. So I asked him about it and he said his provider doesnt use sims. Ok and did'nt give it much thought after that.

And if your signing up with the same provider Im sure its common to just give new ones then they don't have to worry about a customer having problems with an old used crappy sim card. I say this because when we've had problems in the past they are QUICK to suggest swapping out old sims for new ones. So those are my thoughts on it.

you dont sell your simcard lol
your sim has your phone #
btw those phones that dont use sim's are cdma not gsm

modnmotos
that would be a v3c or v3m

Thanks SocaSlvr now that you mention it I believe it was V3m.

Yeah, I was pretty darn sure that CDMA providers only use CDMA phones.

I was mostly just wondering if selling the SIM even mattered. Yeah, it has your number, but if you've cancelled the service, that doesn't matter. So yeah, seems like it doesn't matter.

But the (m) model had a slot where bat is located that looked like and we both assumed it was for a sim. Was this slot for a sim or something else, and if it was for something else, what?

Probably a memory card, is my guess.

Boy it looked like a sim slot but I guess it could be a mem card slot also.

Danation

Well, I dunno, maybe it's a v3m but it had the case of a regular v3, so it had the SIM slot.

the M in Razr V3M stands for memory, they have a slot for a microsd memory card in them.

At one time it made a difference because it was cheaper to get your provider's local storefront to reprogram a sim card with a new number than it was to buy a new card. At least around here it was--when I got my first cell phone in 2000, reprogramming a sim card cost $5 at the local T-Mobile, but buying a new one (sans phone) cost $35...

Now that sim cards are basically free on eBay, though...

They were free with a phone, but outrageous if you had to replace just the sim card. I think it was just an attempt to try to sell you a new phone rather than hanging on to your old one.
