I've been surfing through the posts and tutorials but I can't really find a complete set of instructions on how to flash/flex a phone.
I just bought an unlocked phone that has a T-mobile logo on the back, but Cingular software. I have t-mobile, so I'd like to get their software on to the phone. Can anyone give me a for dummies version of how to do this? Or would it just be easier to take the phone to t-mobile and have them do it?

I looked through both of those guides and neither of them really say where I can download the t-mobile software onto my phone... or I guess at this point just a stock "monster pack" so I can take it to t-mobile and have them take care of it.

you can d-load the t-mob sw here in the dload section. just look for t-mobile or "tmb" in the flash file. Assuming you have a v3 w/ R374 S/W try this link. use caution tho, make sure you have full and pds backups before trying, and definately make sure you are flashing the correct version!!!

PDS is a vital security area stored in your phones memory. If you flash an improper file, this area will get jumbled and become corrupt. The safest way to correct this is to have a backup. Dont get scared, if you follow the proper steps you should do fine!! Just keep posting and one of us can help you through. Here is the link to "Backing it Up"

Also give us your info- turn off phone hold the * and # buttons, press power, see bootloader screen with info. this link will give you an idea to what to look for.

I think I've successfully installed it now. Unfortunately it didn't solve my problem. I thought having the t-mobile software on the phone might stop it from abruptly ending my calls and people on the other end of my calls not being able to hear me, but I think I might have just gotten a lemon.

Does the new f&b3 save your pds when it does a full backup.. I think I remember the old program used to have a seperate selection for backing up your pds.

RSD lite 3.6 is the most stable program for flashing. you can also us F&B3, or MPT. if you like there are other versions of p2ktools available in the downloads section of this site.

That sounds like it may be a hardware issue.

Corrupted it's software? Have you installed the drivers? I'd try F&B for flashing.
